100% you are correct. These media outlets have been known to use “insider” info that isn’t verified before. It could easily be OrangePill’s message being “telephoned” around and then seeming like what he said was a prediction, when really it’s the source of the rumor.

eh, that's kind of dangerous for the legitimate media to do. Hargis even mentioned it as much on his interview with finebaum. the TFP was heistant on whether or not to go public with their story, because of that.

hyams has been steadfast in his sources, as has Ramey/brice and Wallace. to the point, i think we can all safely assume those sources are probably well past the "informed insider".......

Swain is the personification of this board.

It's been said on several threads on Twitter. That the announcement could be made after this game? Or the candy game. There might be a thread on Reddit as well.

Ok so I have a question, someone on here mentioned before that the media was a week behind on information, then not to long ago it was mentioned that the first off was a no go but a second was “agreed” to, so the Swain tweets fit the narrative about a lag in information? Gruden to the hill.

Fosho.... I like Swain, especially being from here, but he has swings just like most on this board.

That is what I appreciate the most about him. He's a passionate fan desperate to see the program he played at live up to expecations.

When you have that level of love in your heart, you are going to hit the ups and downs in an obvious fashion. He lives Tennessee and you can hear the pain in his voice over the course of this season.

The work he does is merely a job for some people. It just means a whole helluva lot more to Swain.

If Gruden is named coach do any of u think he wouldn't be involved in bowl prep? Not likely we make a bowl but he would not be sitting idly by..

I agree that the media has better connected “insiders” or sources. I’m saying with the way social media is now and how quickly things spread, a good source to the media could be influenced by social media / message boards. Everything is very convoluted.

Either way, I think Currie is running this as tight as possible, and I doubt people with true first hand knowledge of what’s happening are making any leaks. Everyone is clueless until the announcement.

Just my take on everything.

yeah, i agree. we're on the same page. i've seen and read things this week that have raised any eyebrow, sure.

i'm very wary to believe any of it.

You realize Gruden's first gig was GA at UT right?

That's so widely known and talked about that it's where the whole "Coming Home" thing comes from.

My bad I didn't realise that (were you even alive in the 80s when he was here?). Thanks.

What does my statement have to do with that? Because Gruden "coming home" means all assistants will be ex-players/coaches?

Notable concern but honestly his name will do most of the work. I imagine he will only be in on the real big fish and leave the grunt work to his staff. Does not really bother me. I think players will trip over each other for the opportunity to play for someone who knows what it takes to win at the highest level.
Recruiting is why Saban is so successful.

How is Alabama'''s Nick Saban so successful on the recruiting trail? | SI.com

Our next guy needs to be an ace recruiter PLUS a good developer of talent. Hope like hell it's Gruden.
