The number of contradicting reports is what gives it away to me that no one is in “the know”.

That's too late to have an announcement honestly, doesn't give the new coach enough time to try and save the early recruiting class, cause isn't there a recruiting dead period coming up?

I have the same sentiment and have mentioned it previously. At times, he seems nuttier than your grandmaw's fruitcake, but Swain is no fool.

I believe the first post about it stated that he would have a very Vols flavored staff if memory serves me correctly

yeah, and i just can't get my head around how some new members show up, or they post a screen shot of a text or post from vq, and all the sudden they're credible.

i mean, is it exactly soothseeing for someone to say on Wedensday "expect bad news to flow tomorrow, but rest assured, everything's fine, it's the plan".

well of course bad news is going to flow, we have 37+ threads dedicate to gruden, and it's the most ridiculous rumored topic in any coaching search in the country.

it's like saying "hey when it rains, it's going to get wet, but don't worry, it will dry up after"

don't get me wrong though. i'd still take gruden in a heartbeat.:)

Can not call it a failure on the Ad if Gruden is not comfortable is too self important to take the job. If he loves TN and they have offered him 10 million reasons a year why and given him the reported money for staff then it is not on the Ad its on him.

The conversation Currie doesn't want to have:

Ergen: "What were the issues?"

Currie: "(1) He wanted a $4.5M budget for assistants and (2) his endorsements." Our attorneys said....."

Ergen: "John, would you like to be the AD in 2018 and be credited with saving the Vol football program from mediocrity?"

Currie: "Yes sir."

Ergen: "Then stop with the excuses and get the deal done."

I Think we will have a coach named sometime next week. Recruiting as well as the sanity of the fan base is on the line, lol! Just my opinion

From his modification of the post, I suspect he meant that Gruden would want to be involved in the extra practices that come with a bowl game. I doubt Gruden cares about the bowl game itself, but the extra practices would be a big deal.
