Official Jon Gruden Thread 37

No...that was a BIG mistake on my part. Somebody texted me last night that there was somebody special at Cherokee CC. I thought it was unfounded and did not post it here. This morning somebody in the last thread posted an old Hubbs post from TOS, and somebody else mentioned in passing they thought he was in town today. I didn't catch the date on the Hubbs post....everything seemed to match up with what I was told last night, so I posted it. It was a mistake on my part, and we figured it out pretty quickly. I'm sorry for the confusion.

So brave of you.

This is from the “Butch Jones thread” and represents the majority of casual fans. The inability to see through him is why most out there are okay with Mullen, Norvell or some other hack. Boro, you may want to close your eyes...

LOL...they still exist. I figured his defenders we're like Bigfoot at this point...real, but out of sight.

If Gruden does not take this job he will become the most hated man in Knoxville. He is supposed to go to the game tomorrow, how can he the way the Grumors have grown? If he does not take the job he will be one of the biggest trolls ever and will be shunned in the Great State of Tennessee. Without questioning he brings of how great Tennessee is, why would he pass up this opportunity. If he wants to coach again Tennessee is the place for him. For coaching legends are made in college not the NFL, why would he choose not to go to Tennessee? He will be one of the most loved men in Tennessee history only behind Peyton Manning and Davy Crockette!!!!

Gruden to the MFkN Hill!!!!!!!!!!!

Gruden said on the Seattle radio show that he is going to Seattle for the MNF game on Saturday. I don’t think he’s coming to our night game Saturday.

There’s an entire museum there dedicated to their military weaponry. Ironically, it was room full of mirrors and American flags.

Heh, love the French. Amazing people.

Spent a year with the French Army in the 1990s. Most of that time, we were in the town of Compiegne, north of Paris.

Three famous things happened in Compiegne in history:
  • In the Hundred Years' War in the 1400s, Joan of Arc was captured there, ended up burning at the stake;
  • At the end of World War I, the French made the Germans sign armistice papers there;
  • Early during World War II, Hitler in turn made the French sign surrender papers there.
Here's why I love the French. There a huge statue of Joan of Arc near the town square; and the clearing and railroad car where the armistice papers were signed is set up as a museum. But that same site is where Hitler made the French surrender, too. I mean the exact same spot (Hitler was a troll, and vindictive!). Inside the railroad car and museum, you'll find tons of historic photos, documents, and other memorabilia about the German surrender, but only one little corner of one of the rooms has one small table and about 8 photos hanging on the wall to mark the French surrender.

It really is a give-away to a big part of the French approach to life. We ignore what we do not favor, what does not flatter us.

Way off topic, I know. Heh, sorry, you just got me remembering.

Go (to the fence) Vols!

Well, I gotta get back to work but for the record there have been no Currie or Gruden sitings in Selmer, Tennessee.

Two men sitting on barstool wearing Tn hats were at Pat's Cafe in Selmer - each had ordered 3 cheese slugburgers - mustard, pickle, onion and bag of fritos - called it the Grude Special

I’m just baffled. Seriously. We have to get his hire right because there’s not enough people out there who care to change it next time.

I wouldn't be mad if he just doesn't want to coach. I would appreciate a nice "no thank you" if he isn't interested so we can move on to google coaches.

When I was in Germany one of the guys joked they took France before breakfast.

As a side note, these gifs while funny, are eating my cell data alive.

I believe after this week I’m gonna join Doyle in consuming tonight while exhibiting more patience.

Oh and before I forget again for the burger lovers in here this is a must to try. They’ve been a hit every time I’ve made them.

Indeed.

There are people that come with good info, but nobody can know right now. The dynamic with Currie is so under control. The hunt is fun...I know who I want, and I know there is a chance. But honestly, nobody will know until it happens.

I'm very happy with where we are, but that's no prediction.
nice post

Great info! I knew the story of Joan of Arc and WWI. It’s really not the military that is so passive as it is their liberal leadership. Oh well, not the place!

Gruden!

I hope Gruden reads every last of the articles questioning whether he would succeed here. I want Chucky mad as a hornet and ready to whoop somebody when he runs through the T.

I’ve always said it’s been done on the money side of it. Boosters gave Currie the blank check. HE has to make the provisions that Gruden is asking for.

This is where I think people are maybe misunderstanding. Sometimes, at least in the business world, you create a plan so great, so rich, and so perfect, with everyone involved on board that there's NO WAY it can fail, so you say "yeah, it's a done deal, let's rock & roll."

And then right at the last moment, something comes up that either puts the deal into question, or it falls through.

It's always a thing in sign-off calls for a big sales close or contract negotiations, that someone will inevitably mention "It's not done until the ink is dry." and that cliche comes from those very very few times things don't work out. 98% of the time the deal will close and it is done. But that 2% where people get burned are the ones people remember and what makes it so easy to attack when "the deal is done" is mentioned before signatures.

Is it dumb to say something is 100% done before it is? Maybe. But I wouldn't crucify someone because they truly thought it was going through and then something came up and blindsided them on it not happening.

People who are saying he signed are a different animal and not addressed here.
