Got a question for all the connected posters. By the way, that is not a put down, it's just a way to address all of you without naming each one. Question: Who is leading this charge for Gruden? Is there a committee, or group? Is Hart in the forefront, and coordinating this? Seem like there has to be someone in charge ofthe effort and not just a bunch of boosters all contacting Gruden individually.

I imagine there is some kind of committee that handles this type of thing

Yes, that is my opinion. And if you want J. Gruden you should hope Mr. Gruden feels the same way else, he is going to jump ship ASAP to the NFL if he takes a job here.

I believe he has had plenty of chances to go to the nfl

I have a multi layered question i guess for some of the more in the know guys (and girls if thats the case o.0 ) Is the decision to wait until the USC game a Hart decision in which perhaps he is hoping Dooley turns a corner or is that just an agreed upon timeframe? And is there a real chance this decision could end up shooting us in the foot and give someone else time to scoop up the top candidates on our target list? Not only Gruden but maybe the guys below him that are there in case things fall apart with him.

Maybe Gruden just wants to work with guys that still buy in and aren't as cynical as NFL players are. Must have been a blast for him to coach high school kids on his son's team.

I'll second this question.

No I think he's been there done that.

Maybe looking for a new challenge. Get paid well. Be home around family. Etc.

Thank You! Yes, a challenge coaching in the SEC. I just can't see Gruden wanting to sit back on the front porch in a rocking chair with a toddy watching the birds come and go.

IMO, coaching in the SEC is as stressful as the NFL and if you count recruiting, maybe more. I believe the deal with him not getting the buyout money now may be a big factor in him wanting to coach again.

I don't think it is as stressful, but i think you can make an argument that the UT job requires more work than Florida or Bama due to the natural recruiting disadvantages. On the flip side, I think that Saban works as hard or harder than anybody in the conference.

If you love the game, the extra work is part of the fun.

No , you just said coaching college was harder than the NFL.

Yes, that is my opinion.

Carroll and Saban agree.

Combined records...

NCAA: 235-73-1(76.3%)
NFL: 66-68(49.3%)

Both have had losing seasons in the NFL. Neither have had losing in seasons in college.

Both have won championships in college. Neither have won championships in the NFL.

I take that back. They don't agree at all.

Good points Lex. Although I have seen coaches on TV complain about how difficult it is to recruit against these top SEC schools. They all looked stressed out IMO.
