I own a business and have two elementary age kids. I am a numbers guy. I don't have a lot of time for sympathy. I expect production from my office and discipline from my kids. We should expect the same from our beloved Vols, and this starts at the top with coach Dooley.

FTR - I was on the Dooley train until last weeks game at MS State and have been pulling for him to succeed from day one. It's past time to see production in the W department and he's quickly running out of time to make that happen.

This is me as well. I feel I have given him time to improve and show results. I really really wanted him to succeed

The firsthalf of the Akron game did it for me..First half was embarrassing b/c there is no way in hell that the game should have been tied.

Gruden's Contrat With ESPN

Just to add this, remember that ESPN and the NFL have a $1.8 BILLION deal per year for Monday Night Football, with Jon Gruden as the headlining act in the booth.

Yes, contracts are nothing more than a legal method of beginning, guiding, and terminating a business agreement, however ESPN did not put that stipulation in the contract for the hell of it. They were making sure that they were going to keep Gruden in the booth for the new contract's length. You can bet that any buyout would blow away what a coaching buyout would incur.

Gruden is pulling in $4.3 million per year doing MNF.He works only during the season. He works only a couple of days week. His wife loves Tamapa and he gets to spend mist of his time in that area.Think that he is goin to give that up to work fulltime for the same kind of money? It would take over $8-$10 million per year to get him to leave, plus paying off a huge buyout that could approach $15-$20 million.

Older stuff, probably seen and very possibly posted but who can keep up with this thread? It seems that ESPN has never divulged the actual nature of their "exclusivity" w/ regard to Gruden.

Apparently Tux knows. He spoke in absolutes about the contract in question. I asked a few questions and am awaiting his reply. I'm sure he's just out for a nice supper right now, so stick around. I'm sure he'll provide the necessary/requested links to back up his absolute statements shortly.

Tux? Surely you've finished supper by now. I want to see the actual Gruden contract. I've looked but can't find it anywhere. Or are the absolutes that you were speaking of actually just your opinion?

Tux????

Either Tux is on his way to beating John Minnoch's record

by eating the longest supper since man started keeping records, he's Houdini reincarnated with the disappearing act he's pulled off, or he's undergoing intense industrial strength hand sanitation because the "absolutes" he gave in his post were pulled from an unsanitary orifice......

Agreed, and welcome to the "It's time for some wins" club. My post wasn't intended to be a knock on you if you took it as such.

I have 2 elementary age daughters and have worked in a school for 20 years. One couldnt survive a single football practice if one was a sympathy puker. I've made it through a combined 30+ years as a player and coach. I can handle someone hurling. :)

I'm ahead of the curve. I was disgusted by the Arky game last year. If I had anything to do with it, he wouldn't have been allowed on the bus back to Knoxville after the KY game.

Yeah...when you called him out, he never returned..Maybe the orange dog ate him.:search:

Anyone left thinking we don't need to terminate Dooley need look no further than the Florida game today. I thought last year Muschamp might be a bust but it is clear he was just making a hard transition from finesse football to a really physical football team. Can't afford to sit back and watch Florida become a powerhouse again without trying to keep up.

Now looking back, I wish my breaking point would have been the KY game but for some reason it wasn't..Because I was still pissed about the Arky game and then the fact that it took overtime to beat Vandy, his lone SEC win last year.:banghead2:

Maybe he had Chinese for supper last night and he ate the orange dog. That dog may not have agreed with him, and he's joined hog88's pukefest 2012. That orange dog stuff never sat very well with me either to be honest.

His press conference after the KY game made me go from simply thinking he was not a good coach to full blown dislike of the man.

I'm just going to have a bologna and cheese sandwich, which I will make myself because I don't feel like wearing it!

Not a good week to be living in Alabama. Then again , that goes for every week living here. I have to admit , I was pulling for Auburn. I want them to keep Chizik around for another year. I can't believe Vandy has the the lead in that series now.

It's all good Jay, I didn't take it personally. Go Vols.

I run a business too and have a 7 year old and could not agree more. Maybe some of those that are bashing us (me) should go back and look at some earlier posts. I came into this season more positive than ever. I thought Bray really had it together as a leader but was a little concerned after his summer antics. I thought Darick was a cancer. All along I gave Dooley the benefit of doubt but after the Florida game the train just derailed for me. I was so hyped for that game, more so than any other in recent memory. I watched Dooley and the team hang their heads and give up. Leaders never let that happen so many times without correcting it. He has not even helped these kids realize what it feels like to win a big one. Tonight is his last chance, after the UF game I cannot imagine SC being a bigger win than Miss State would have been. They are on a 2 game skid.

I will never root against the Vols and never have. I hope we beat the shat out of everyone else we play. I just do not think it can happen with Dooley at the head just the same as I wouldn't be successful if the owner of the business I run was the same type of leader. I freakin bleed orange, have bought (brand new) orange and white vehicles, I am part of the Vol Navy but mostly I am brutally honest.

I now agree with my buddy that worked with him at LSU. He is a blue blood spoiled brat that feels entitled to win without ever learning how to be a leader. Dooley never "moved up" the career ladder anywhere he has worked, and his last name and relationships got him the jobs he has had. It's certainly not his record of wins, record of leadership, or even his record of being able to escalate the career ladder within any one organization.

Thats why, if whats out on twitter and such is true, the stadium is half red. Going to be another long year if we don't win.
