As vol fans we all have felt and wanted that. None of us wanted our coach to fail. But damn its done. Cut it loose and lick our wounds and climb the ladder. If not we are gonna make vandy and kensucky look good.

I can see very little difference in us, Vandy, Kentucky, and Ole Miss. Other than we have a couple better players on offense and they have better defenses.

Yeah. More than I wanted Gruden or any other coach, I wanted Dooley to succeed....even though I never liked his hiring in the first place. What's more is I have a lot of sympathy for the guy.

However, it's hard to feel too sorry for someone who probably wasn't ever cut out to be a HC...or at least, he should have never tried to jump the "process" and go from Position coach to HC so early in his coaching career. Should have waited to move up to OC, then HC. He also has made a lot more money in these 3yrs than he would in 10yrs as an assistant. That's not even including his buyout. He's got a nice security blanket, unlike the average Joe, when they get fired.

It is not out of the realm of possibility that we beat USCe....I think if they have already decided to fire Dooley then now is the time.., would get roasted in the media if we somehow beat the cocks and then fire Dooley the week after...if you wait til seasons end then you are behind in the coaching carosel...the last two games are the perfect picture of why he is losing his job.

Barring a miracle where Dooley strings together (5) straight wins, his time is done. I had tons of optimism before the FLA game and thought we'd win, but realize now it's more than just lack of talent with this squad. But, posters continuing to hype this Gruden fantasy are kidding themselves if they think it will automatically make UT a contender. Here's a list of what will realistically happen:

*Unlikely he'll even consider taking the job since his family has been entrenched in Tampa for over 10 years. Yes, I know his wife went to school here, but he's also got (3) kids who have never made a move in their life--not counting when they were toddlers in Oakland--and would have to switch schools for the first time.

*IMO, his schemes--and overall approach to the game--is way to complex for the 17-22 crowd. He's use to dealing with professionals who make millions and know what they're doing. He would have to massively "dumb-down" his playbook and accept most of these kids aren't physically or mentally ready for what he's preaching.

*Hasn't been in the college game in over (20) years. Wouldn't have the first clue about all the rules that the NCAA has forced onto the books.

*Not use to the attrition associated with a college team. It's a constant battle to replenish your roster which means a lot more time away from the family, recruiting and doing other events a college HC is responsible for.

*He'd have to make a minimum of 5mil, which means he'd be the highest paid coach in the sport on day one. That, combined with the media attention, will put more pressure on him than he's ever had in his career (after winning the SB in year one at TB, he was playing with house money).

*He wouldn't be here long. And then where does TN go if the experiment fails? If he's successful, an NFL team will come calling. If it's just a bad fit from the start and he has to depart unceremoniously, the program carries that around it's neck for years. Bama/UF fans: "Haha, even Gruden couldn't help y'all."

If Dooley has to be pushed out, so be it. Though let's hope Hart brings in a real college coach who knows the lay of the current landscape and what it takes to put together a solid program. Most importantly, a guy who is committed to being in Knoxville for the next 10 years, at least. Just my .02

That's the point in looking for a change now rather than later (next year). People fuss about all the negativity. Just like pain when there is damage/injury...a fanbase will naturally make noise when something is terribly wrong in the program.

Any question this is the worst era in UT football history?

...some used to say the 70's were worse.

I don't think there's any question now.

It's the worst era that i've seen in my lifetime..Worst coach we've ever had, just based on the ones I'm familiar with..Better times are ahead..King Gruden Is Coming!

That would work for me. Kick him to the curb. He's already done that to the fans.

Spurrier is gonna bring the heat anyway.

Plus it is troubling that Bray & Hunter appear to be regressing. I am not sure how much longer Dooley will be coaching, but I wouldn't be comfortable calling any of the remaining games sure wins at this point.

Even if the team finishes 9-4 with a win over SC and a bowl win, it would still be hard to buy into Dooley.

Watching Tennessee tonight, Dooley will never beat Saban.

In the mean time, Muschamp has turned Florida into a national championship contender in his 2nd season.
