Barring a miracle where Dooley strings together (5) straight wins, his time is done. I had tons of optimism before the FLA game and thought we'd win, but realize now it's more than just lack of talent with this squad. But, posters continuing to hype this Gruden fantasy are kidding themselves if they think it will automatically make UT a contender. Here's a list of what will realistically happen:

*Unlikely he'll even consider taking the job since his family has been entrenched in Tampa for over 10 years. Yes, I know his wife went to school here, but he's also got (3) kids who have never made a move in their life--not counting when they were toddlers in Oakland--and would have to switch schools for the first time.

*IMO, his schemes--and overall approach to the game--is way to complex for the 17-22 crowd. He's use to dealing with professionals who make millions and know what they're doing. He would have to massively "dumb-down" his playbook and accept most of these kids aren't physically or mentally ready for what he's preaching.

*Hasn't been in the college game in over (20) years. Wouldn't have the first clue about all the rules that the NCAA has forced onto the books.

*Not use to the attrition associated with a college team. It's a constant battle to replenish your roster which means a lot more time away from the family, recruiting and doing other events a college HC is responsible for.

*He'd have to make a minimum of 5mil, which means he'd be the highest paid coach in the sport on day one. That, combined with the media attention, will put more pressure on him than he's ever had in his career (after winning the SB in year one at TB, he was playing with house money).

*He wouldn't be here long. And then where does TN go if the experiment fails? If he's successful, an NFL team will come calling. If it's just a bad fit from the start and he has to depart unceremoniously, the program carries that around it's neck for years. Bama/UF fans: "Haha, even Gruden couldn't help y'all."

If Dooley has to be pushed out, so be it. Though let's hope Hart brings in a real college coach who knows the lay of the current landscape and what it takes to put together a solid program. Most importantly, a guy who is committed to being in Knoxville for the next 10 years, at least. Just my .02

Go Vols

NFL teams go after Gruden all the time and he has turned everyone of them down...Yes even DALLAS...He honestly has his choice of where he wants to coach and whoever hires him is going to pay him big bucks....Why?...Because the man is a winner and he can turn around a program fast...He would be hard to say no to if he's sitting in your living room with your parents...AD Hart, Get out the checkbook and pay this guy what he wants!

Don't need to go through all of that. Just create a free account on Zazzle or CafePress, and link to where folks can order their own. Really easy...no cost on your part to set up, and you get a little margin on each shirt.

Sweet. I'll look into it. I'm not looking to make any money though. Just wanted to give the Grudenites something to show they're part of the revolution.

No...if "haters" hate, it's means hate. I don't hate Gruden at all...enjoy his commentary on MNF. Doesn't change the fact I think his tenure would be worse than the coach we're stuck with in LA. Every SC fan I know bout dropped dead when they said Jeff Fisher or Jack Del Rio were the top two choices...guys who haven't been in the college game since Reagan was in office.

Easy turbo. We are on the same page.

Guess I read your post wrong.

Peace????

Preach it!:clapping:

I cannot vouch for the source....it could be just another yank of the chain..........but a sportswriter I happen to know very very well....with whom I talked to immediately after the game....tells me that Monday might be a very interesting day and that was all he would say about the matter. It could easily have been his frustration showing but I'm not so sure.:crossfingers:

I knew I liked you Medic

Actually, that's completely false. Had Jerry Jones offered him the job, he'd have taken it without hesitation (one of the gripes he had in TB was ownership being cheap). And he's not a guaranteed winner. Know how you can tell if a coach is worth his salt? He's employed.

Seriously, you should do it...easy as pie (just don't have the square outlines...that looks so hokie, and says "I did this on MS Paint and ironed it on myself"). Just make sure to add the big bold text "This time...IT'S TIME" or "Mr. Hart...GIT R DONE!"

It would look something like this, once you set things up:

Why would Gruden want to come here when he can make $4 million to sit in a booth for ESPN? You'd have to double that to get him here and that won't happen. Why do we want him? He was a graduate assistant. That's the only ties he has to the university. I'm sorry, but this hire doesn't even make sense. Can he coach players that aren't NFL caliber? He won a championship with Dungy's players. In the six years that followed the Super Bowl win, he only made it to the playoffs twice and lost both wild card games.

Can he even recruit? Would he even know how or have the desire to do it? Do you think a Super Bowl ring means that much to a kid. Maybe it does. Maybe it doesn't.

Sorry, y'all! We need a coach with the complete college background. This is not the NFL. Give me someone who understands what it takes to mentor kids right out of high school. Big undertaking.

Disclaimer: I thought the Dooley hire was awful, but I grew to respect him. Aside from the free pass he gave Bray, he has more or less rid the team of riffraff and kept the boys out of the newspapers....at the expense of his own success. We wanted a character guy after the Kiffin fiasco. We got it. Let's at least wait until the season's end to put the real estate signs in his yard. He's at least earned that much.

Not so.

1. Jerry Jones is a control freak.
2. He was still getting compensation from TB.
