Because I don't think he wants to come back to college. He's got a damn Superbowl ring. You really think we're gonna give him $6M+? And even if we're willing to, does that sway his opinion?

I do think Dooley's fired, unless we win out, or at the very least go 7-5. The thing is, after we lose to USCe, I think it all goes into full on downhill slide.

I know what all has been said. I also know what people more informed have said, and I know which story makes more sense.

I never believed for a second that Dooley has been informed he's not the coach next year. I also don't think the decision has been made yet.

Negative outlook. WHY wouldn't he want to come here? Bill Walsh coached at Stanford after San Fransico. Maybe the challenge appeals to him? Maybe he sees what other former pro coaches have been able to do at this level and thinks he can do the same? Maybe he has a passion for the game that the college game can satisfy? All these are maybes but yours are too.

How much further do you think we can slide? At this point beating Troy feels like a challenge. Vandy will clean house.
Kentucky going for a streak of two and MO is already chomping at the bit to get to K'ville.

How so? Do you really believe Gruden has never been offered another HC opportunity? Do you really believe if he did decide to coach again it would be for the Browns? Yeah, that's seems more likely than him coming here.

I know they're maybes. I'm not going to get my hopes up for Gruden. If you ask most of the people in this thread, they aren't maybes.

Everyone seems convinced that it's just down to formalities now after Dooley is fired. I don't think that's the case.
