Dooley went on to relay a story of how his high school coach marched into the principal's office at the end of each season with a resignation in hand. The coach told his players he didn't want to be anywhere he wasn't wanted.

Dooley added, "I haven't had the courage to do that right now. Maybe one day I'll have the courage to do that."

"I'd be a real dumbass to do that right now," said Dooley

-----------------------------------------

Lol is he for real?

LOL seriously? Trying to get fired to collect that buyout $$$, IMO.

Okay. I'm not saying he is, but I'm not saying he isn't. I don't know what happens if he's 7-5, but if he wins out, there's no way we buy him out.

Just my opinion that he isn't going to get the chance to win out. Everyone is ripping hard on Dooley already. It's expected we will lose to USC-e so I doubt that will incite much more hatred but could you imagine what would happen if we lost to any of the final 4 teams? If that were to happen some of that angst aimed at Dooley right now will shift to Hart, he knows this and I doubt he is willing to put himself in that position.

:whatever:

We have a long way left that we could slide. If you don't see that, then you're delusional, and you belong in this thread.

Troy is a giant killer program. This team is so emotionally fragile right now there are no definite wins left in the schedule. I'll be thrilled if we split November.

Grudenites, I wish to join your ranks!

With that said, I want to express my sincere gratitude for CDD. He took on a tough situation, recruited well, kept us out of trouble, and embraced our traditions. More than anything, he gave his all for Tennessee.

I remember when FLA, fired Ron Zook, he coached the remainder of the season, and his players rallied around him. I remember them carrying him off the field after they took him to a bowl and won. I'm by no means a FLA fan, but it was nice to see him go out that way.

I wish we would go ahead and make the announcement, but then let these players go out and win a couple games for their coach. Nothing would please me more than to see CDD being carried off the field after a bowl win and thousands of Big Orange Fans clapping.

After that though.............. BRING ON CHUCKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's what I'm saying. From the position we're in right now, if we were to lose to Troy, maybe Vandy, etc. that would be a huge fall from where we are right now.

This may be the highlight of Dooley's career -

"Starting quarterback Tyler Bray will be benched in favor of backup Justin Worley if he continues to throw interceptions, Tennessee coach Derek Dooley said today during his weekly press conference.

“If he’s loose with the football, he’s coming out of the game and we’re going to play Justin,” Dooley said. “I told him that.”
Man this guy is one hell of a coach to make that statement.

The difference here is that pretend coaches talk about it, real coaches (aka Spurrier) just yank them. And FTR, I can't stand Spurrier, but if you don't produce it's pretty simple, find the bench.

"now a txt doesn't qualify as a phone call Peyton...we need to know ahead of time that you are coming..."

The level of awesome in this is high.

You're right..And that slide could be that we lose the rest of our games..I don't see a game on the remaining schedule that I can look at and say "I feel good about that game."..But we have slid a long way and possibly a lot of sliding remaining.:twocents:

Said this today in his presser when Jimmy asked him about discussing his buyout last season. You could tell he was trying to dance around the question and was put on the spot. I've always supported Dooley but hearing him say that today vs just reading it tells me he did discuss his buyout and he's embarrassed its out in the public. This is getting uglier by the minute.

I don't judge all if this on just this seasons record. We've won 1 SEC game in the last year....an overtime victory against Vandy....at home. I judge us on our place in the SEC. We cant fall much further.

Come on in,sir...make yourself at home!:salute:

Lack of leadership trickles down the ranks...

Dooley cant dodge post game pressers...

When the QB has a defeated attitude then there is no hope for the rest of the team. Is it OK to simply say "Meh, I just didn't do what I was supposed to..." and apathetically (sp?) play it off like it doesn't matter? (Referring to TB interview today)

I will be anxiously awaiting a new print from you with Chucky as the subject!!! I hope this gets done

Sure we can. We have 4 SEC games left.
Not on what matters....the conference. In the last year, everybody in the East other than Vanderbilt has beaten us. It's not much better if you go back two more years.

I see your point....I'm not trying to be obtuse. The track record in the conference for this coach is set in my opinion no matter what happens over the next 4 conference games.

Focus on this year. We have a lot of football left this year, and we haven't lost to anybody that wasn't ranked. If we were to win out, it would be a pretty good season. The loss to MSU was less than spectacular, sure, but they're ranked, undefeated, and it was in their building.

Many people here have more on field collegiate experience than I do, and certainly more coaching experience as I have none but I will tell you by watching our on field play we could not be much worse. The success we have had speaks to our talent level and that makes our failure that much more painful for me. If we do not come out ready to play Troy, we could very easily lose.

Yes, or we could beat USC. There's no telling where this team truly stands. We lose to good teams, and we beat bad teams.
