I don't claim to know or have ever met Dooley but I thought he was a good guy and hoped he would turn out to be a good coach. I have no problem saying I was wrong but I also don't know people that know CDD so I had no inside info I was just going by public perception.

We had a back and forth or two, but it was never personal. You're all good with me. We both want what's best for UT. In the end, that's all that matters. Glad you're on board bro. Go back and look at things now that you're seeing in a different light, so to speak.

Meh, changed my avi back from the Gruden helmet shot, going back to my neutral ways. I was in with you Grudenites, and will support a change in leadership in the near term. But, the level of Dooley bashing has reached a peak in this thread. Yeah, I agree with the assessment of his coaching abilities, but I still see him as an honorable man, who got us back on course. He took on the challenge when few others would and it looks like 2.5 years of rebuilding is all we can stand. For that he deserves a small portion of our gratitude.

Funny thing is, you all knew that bad press would come out as part of the replacement process. Laying the ground work, you all said. But now you are believing it and using it to support your preconceived notions about the man and making the whole thing personal.

You are, of course, free to do that, but that doesn't make it right, nor, for the most part, accurate. So, I for one, will take myself out of this thread and go back to hanging out in the Pub. Have fun, bash away, we'll see you all when this thing is settled.

I respect your opinion, but I'm not bashing. It's the truth. He's no saint. More happened today....

I like Dooley and I've been an ardent supporter but I dont think another year will make a difference and we have to move forward for the university, UT is bigger than any one person. I was told a story saturday and I dont have any proof but earlier in the year when the walk on kickers met with Dooley he told them "you know your not really football players, dont u?" Lol

It would be cool to see Jon Gruden on Monday night football humming the lyrics to rocky top during the broadcast.

enough to change a timeline?

He's not winning friends and influencing people- at least not to his side. Think the Hunter comment. There may or may not have been an unpleasant reaction to that by one of his bosses.....a rather public reaction. Allegedly, of course.

Just wanted to add this to the discussion, it's old news, I know, but i feel like i'm contributing by saying this. My Grandfather played BBall at UT from 51-54, and had a scholly for football too. Some of the people that have lived in Johnson City for awhile might know his name, Elvin Little. He coached at Science Hill for 20 years (he was actually Spurrier's BBall coach). He still knows people at the University. He was told recently that Haslam would foot the bill if they want Dooley gone. Old news, i know.

It's all good :hi:
