What was the last college football team Gruden coached? Seriously, I ask from ignorance of his past college career.

He's never been HC of a college team. Googled him and I can't see what everyone is so excited about him. Ok he won a super bowl. One super bowl. Doesn't mean he can coach at college level or win in the SEC.

I get people claim that, it being fact just can not be proved unless Hamilton was quoted as such. As for our roster being 3/4 full of NON D1 players, I call bs. Of the 70+ kids on the roster, I would bet most all of them were on scholarship. UT does not sign players who are not D1 players. Maybe Dools could not do anything with them, but he has also proven he can not do anything with 4-5 star players either.

As for Mike Hamilton saying that no quality coaches were available at the time he hired Dooley - Well, simply put, I do not trust a thing Hamilton has to say. He was all about what was best Mike Hamilton, not what was best for UT. We must also consider the fact that Hamilton did not offer those guys much more than Dooley's salary. No quality coach is going to come for that!

As for Dooley's beginning roster: He had a Kiffini's recruiting class (except for a couple who decided to go with Kiffin to USC) and he had Fulmer's last three classes, and if you go back and check them, they were quality recruits for the most part.

If we want a coach of Gruden, Stoops, Spurrier, or Muschamp's stature, UT administration and our "prominent donors" are going to have to be willing to pay him the going rate of about 4 to 5 million per year, with a minimum contract of five years. He will also require that he fire some current assistants and bring in those he feels qualified to work with him in turning the program around. If Hart and company are not willing to meet those requirements... we Vol fans will have to be willing to suffer through more mediocre seasons... or demand a change by boycotting games, not buying UT clothing, etc... And, I would hate more than almost anything to see that happen.

Yeah, pretty much. However has a better resume than most.

And, the NFL is "supposed" to be set at a faster pace than D1 college level football. I'd say that Gruden is much more qualified than Dooley to coach on the SEC level. However, he will not be cheap and he will want his own assistants... not Dooley's. Again, probably not cheap.

If UT is serious, they'll agree to Gruden's demands. You've gotta spend money to make money.

As long as we get what we pay for, I'm COMPLETELY okay with that.

I am a little confused, everyone in this thread has been getting upset over being called out and now the one's that were getting called out are now calling OCI out. From the way I understand OCI has sources like Jay,Boro,OV,DTO and Y4B. And now he posts something from a source he trusts and you guys jump all over him. That seems like the pot calling the kettle black. I am not saying he is right or wrong and maybe he is late, but he is agreeing now with our stance and we are bashing him. Can someone explain this to me...

Basically, you could be as much as an insider as OCI if you were willing to subscribe to pay sites and spend your time scouring other websites and forums for info. What makes people upset is that he likes to act as if he has the inside track on information. Plus, some people believe OCI is an alias for a former poster on here that became a huge joke after an infamous love letter to a prospective recruit as well as claiming media credentials on his quest to become an insider.

Personally, I take everything he posts with a grain of salt, so to speak. But don't take my word for it, I drink.

Publicly bashing players after told to stop last year.

I don't think I'm buying this... and if it is true, I don't like it.

The AD should let the football coach handle his players the way he wants. If the coach feels it is necessary to call out a player in the media, then it is necessary. The AD has much bigger issues to concern himself with than what the coach says to reporters about the players that he sees everyday in practice/film room/on the field.

I would rather it be this way anyway. Let him have full control and see where he takes us.

Yeah on that Locker Room Show on WBIR that Mark Packer host on Sunday nights. That one reporter dude whos name escapes me right now. He said a few years ao when Tennessee was Winning SEC Championships and competing for them tickets were $45 now we are not competing and they are like $85. Product has to match the price no doubt.

If you mess up at work would it be ok for your boss to call you out in the media? Remember, these kids aren't in the NFL.
