Reasons why Jon Gruden will not coach at U.T.

(1) He is the leading announcer of Monday Night Football and essentially works 17 days per year.

(2) The popularity and pay at Monday Night Football is more than at U.T.

(3) Jon Gruden is responsible for his family and is not stressed. At U.T. he would be responsible for the entire football program, to include players and staff. Much added stress...

(4) He can't win National Championships at U.T. on a regular basis due to the yearly schedule of Alabama, USC, Florida, UGA. To include LSU on a rotating basis. Schedule is too difficult for him to win National Championships, Maybe one National Championship but not multiple.

(5) His wife likes the big city life and she doesn't want to move to Knoxvile Tennessee.

Why does popularity matter?

Also not true that the pay is more. Tennessee would have to match or offer him more than he currently makes.

His buy out from the Buccaneers was like 15 million dollars and he's been making 4 million a year with ESPN. I doubt money is a huge issue.

He said himself a few months ago he wanted to coach again.

1) Not True. The MNF telecasts are not the only days he works - not even remotely close.

we cannot fire dooley until we have a verbal adreement and contract agreed upon by gruden to finally let dooley go, it would be disastorous to let dooley go and gruden not agree. this will take at least another wwek or two to become reality, but we have grudens attention, we do not lack talent, and gruden knows that, which leads me to believe that he will take the job as we just need someone who can coach our players to a victory over someone meaningful.
