The offer is still on the table. Gruden's camp has not given a yes or no. Last I heard, Lamonte contacted Hart regarding some of the terms of the deal and discussed salary pool for assistants. I will let you know if I hear more.

If this is true then Gruden definitely wants to be the HC here so WTF doesn't Hart just ask Grudens agent...what will it take? Tell us and its yours. GET IT DONE!!!

Something tells me Chucky wants to bring in another all-star staff (much like what we saw with Kiffin) and Hart rightfully has some issues with salary.

...get it done!

Backup tha dumptruck...and yes I am spending other peoples money...its what gubment does...

Even if he says no, would that be considered a no in response to the initial offer, or in general to the position as a whole?

You know more than I do, and I do believe that you have some connections (which beats anything I pretend to have), but I find it hard to believe that Hart is in anyway directly connected to this... In other words, I don't believe that Lamonte would have contacted Hart directly.. All of this stuff has to be taking place through back channels unless you want some type of Auburn fiasco leaking through.. It's just bad business to be this cavalier and open about your coaching search to be directly connected to it..

Salary is agreed upon. Was done over a week ago. Details of control, staff salary, recruiting budgets, that is what I was told is being discussed. Again, that was about 10 days ago.

I'm sure there is other stuff. That's just what I know.

:yahoo:

I like Hart's moxy. The guy has gone all-in and hasn't been in the job very long.

As for Gruden not saying "yes or no" att his point, it may well be that he will not formally say "yes" until Dooley is officially fired for political reasons. Either he truly hasn't decided, or only a very select few individuals know the answer and are sworn to secrecy until the Dooley issue is resolved.

This is exactly why Hart was brought to UT...to make the tough decisions without flinching.

From whats been rumored, Hart is willing to go all in to whatever Gruden wants, so hopefully we'll here some good news after the South Carolina game.

I agree. What makes it worse, is that multiple sources have claimed that Gruden is interested. If it doesn't get done, the blame will fall on Hart.

People are interested in a lot of things before they are actually confronted with them. But I do agree with you in general here.

It would be awesome (IMO) for Dooley to find out he's fired by Gruden announcing on MNF that he will be the next Coach for UT. What would be even sweater is if Hart is on the phone with Dooley making sure that he is watching the announcement.

Hart - Derilick, are you watching MNF?
Fooley - not at the moment, I'm packing.
Hart - turn it on, you need to see this.
Fooley- I'm watching what am I suppose to see?

Gruden comes on - folks I have enjoyed my time here on ESPN and MNF, however I do greatly miss coaching. This will be last broadcast for these fine networks, as I must spen the rest of the year recruiting for the University of TN Volunteers.

Hart - Fooley did you see that?
Fooley - Yep.
Hart - good. Keep packing.

Granted that is a little harsh, but that was my dream last night.

Hart's direct contact with Lamonte has been limited to a handful of discrete conversations, but people associated with UT are doing a lot of the negotiations.

As an original 2008 Grudenite I'm ashamed to ask this, but...

Who's Lamonte?

In the end, though, it's obvious that we have to spend money to make money.

An extra $100,000 per assistant could be the difference between a #3 class and a #13 class. With that gulf that could be the difference in 5-6 wins over 4 years.

Wins make money. Give Gruden what he needs to succeed or don't offer him the job.

You don't buy a Ferrari and then start trying to go cheap on the leather seats. You go whole hog or not at all.

Tony Basilio just said Dooley has already been fired there's no chance he's back and Gruden is choice 1 2 3 4.He said he knows Gruden has already had meeting with one of the big boosters in Chicago. He said they are going to let Dooley coach out the season and even if they don't get Gruden they will find somebody else.
