lol the SEC would just award us the championship for the next several years. They wouldn't even make us play any games.

Keep thinking like a loser and you'll always be one. I want this to go down badly. I am optimistic. Time to think big. IF YOU'RE GONNA BE A BEAR........ BE A GRIZZLY!

Reasons why Jon Gruden will not coach at U.T.

(1) He is the leading announcer of Monday Night Football and essentially works 17 days per year.

(2) The popularity and pay at Monday Night Football is more than at U.T.

(3) Jon Gruden is responsible for his family and is not stressed. At U.T. he would be responsible for the entire football program, to include players and staff. Much added stress...

(4) He can't win National Championships at U.T. on a regular basis due to the yearly schedule of Alabama, USC, Florida, UGA. To include LSU on a rotating basis. Schedule is too difficult for him to win National Championships, Maybe one National Championship but not many.

(5) His wife likes the big city life and she doesn't want to move to Knoxvile Tennessee.

Ill go ahead and spell it out for you bro...Gruden LOVES coaching. Coaching is the one profession where you would take a pay cut and add more stress just because of how fun it is. I used to be a paid high school coach. I coached after I graduated high school. Coaching is like teaching. Some people will take less pay to do what they love. Its not just winning that coaches enjoy. Its the relationships with players and coaches, watching the players grow up on and off the feild, and shaping their lives. Its about watching your guys progress and get better everyday, and then seeing your product on the field and winning. Coaching is a high, and an adrenaline rush. You cant get anything like it from being in a booth.

Gruden would be great, but I'm not sure why there is so much optimism here. I get the hope, buy what makes people optimistic about it happening? SBV?

Wish they would announce soon but if dooley is fired midseason it would have to be a monday press conference. Just wonder how this will all go down.

Folks in the know, wont go into much detail. Believe what you wish.

Youre welcome, I saved you 78 pages of reading.

The talk of assistants he might bring would unite all of VN. Every Dooley sucker would immediately say "Dooley who?" once their names are released as potential assistants. No need to worry for those tired of mediocre coaching and play...times are changing.

Waiting....

I let these fools and their "inside sources" get my hopes up far too often. I'm done believing any of these rumors.

It all sounds so familiar doesn't it? Good luck with all the rumors everyone. I'm just going to cheer for the Vols this weekend and take my probable butt whooping and hope fore the future. Sigh......

Can somebody please save me the headache of sifting through this incredibly long thread? Has there been any credible information suggesting that either side is interested in making this happen, or is it all just a bunch of hoping?

Good approach. I have made it clear that I want Dooley gone, but whatever happens will happen whether I like it or not.

I'm guessing the power that many thought was the last hurdle to be jumped was either Haslam or Hart? ESPN wouldn't be a hurdle at all; their guys are poached all the time.

The fact that ESPN is running a commercial hyping the UT Bamma game this weekend is raising an eyebrow. They rarely give us publicity, especially when we are down/ gonna get roflstomped most likely... Add this to the fact that if we do manage to land Gruden we would over night become one of the most commented on programs at ESPN, and all you have to do is connect the dots. ESPN knows.

Not sure about recent info, but Springbokvol said Sunday night that Hart was talking with a coach that currently isn't coaching, and that coach is listening with interest. Could be BS, could be legit. SBV is known as a fairly credible poster, so a lot of people are hopeful. I don't know if there has been any new news since that though.
