I think the AD would like the entire payoff and new contract covered by boosters cash. 30+ mil.

If that's so, then they will probably be looking for some return on their investment.

I'm not sure how things work at UT, but perhaps this would be the way. Happy Vol fans are fans that spend money. Could fill the coffers of UT to where the boosters wouldn't have to ante up so much later on.
