According to Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com, Gruden told HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel last week that he “will come back” to coaching in the NFL if the right opportunity presents itself. While Gruden seems perfectly content in the booth for MNF, these comments indicate that Gruden eventually wants to be back on the sidelines.

Someone posted a video yesterday of him at a University of Dayton golf outing that took place last year. For one, what a nice guy - at least in this situation. Secondly, he told someone there that his son was going to be a senior in high school and didn't want to move him that year, but that he might be ready to get back into it (I'm guessing this was coaching) the next year (which would be this year).

The thing about insider knowledge is that, when predictions are wrong (e.g., Randy Shannon is a done deal), people can say, "Well, it WAS a done deal, but things fell through." If Gruden is not the hire, I expect this will be the storyline. It was done but there were some snags. I would love to be wrong, but I've learned not to get my hopes up when it comes to Tennessee.
