The thing about insider knowledge is that, when predictions are wrong (e.g., Randy Shannon is a done deal), people can say, "Well, it WAS a done deal, but things fell through." If Gruden is not the hire, I expect this will be the storyline. It was done but there were some snags. I would love to be wrong, but I've learned not to get my hopes up when it comes to Tennessee.

By the same token it is easy for non-believers to say there was never anything there to begin with

In his first year as the head coach of Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers won Super Bowl XXXVII, defeating the Raiders whom he had left at the end of the preceding season. At the time, Gruden was the youngest head coach ever to win a Super Bowl, at 39 years, 5 months and 9 days. Jon Gruden was confirmed as the new coach of The University of Tennessee, Nov. 24, 2012.
