For all of the people who "have a friend in Knoxville" let me just set the record straight. I live in knoxville, have for most of my life (outside of a few years down in gator country) and let me tell you, people in Knoxville are just as clueless as people in Nashville, Memphis, or California.. 99.999% of Knoxvillians know nothing. Not saying your friends don't have good info, only that simply living in Knoxville does not qualify somebody as having more legitimate info than the next guy.

I have a really good Hungarian friend and he doesn't know $hit

Had a friend on Facebook, who does not believe the Gruden rumors, tell me that if Gruden comes he will rename his "thing" Chucky and has informed his wife of that...she's not too thrilled...I'm still cracking up about it.

This is true, Not even the most desperate owner is going to deal on these terms and Gruden's coaching career is essentially over.

i'm no expert on coaching contracts or the terms on which Gruden was fired from Tampa, but it could be possible that in order to continue to receive buyout money from the Bucs, Gruden needs to "attempt" to find another coaching job thus the ridiculous stipulations drawn up by his agent. And if he is to receive the last of his buyout from TB shortly I think those exaggerated stipulations will become less strict. I'm just throwing a conjecture out there....

I think Stoops is the clear No. 2 after Gruden. I wouldn't expect that Mora, Jr. would Kiffin UCLA. Also think Stoops would have legitimate interest in UT and leaving the Big 12.

Lawdy miss claudey I hope you are right. If its nor Gruden I hope Stoops is our guy.

I cut and pasted his response to me. I did not edit it because I didn't want to take out the context or the tone.
While my friend can be a prick at times, he has never mislead me. I am not sure what my motivation would be to join in January and stay silent for 11 months just to rain on your Gruden parade. I just thought you'd like to hear the perspective of someone who worked for Lamonte.

Here are some additional points:

My friend went to Michigan. He said similar things about them when they were courting Gruden. Then he said, the terms of the doc were too challenging for a college board to overcome. He also said he didn't know what he thought about Gruden coaching college for the reasons stated earlier.

Again- He likes Gruden, and thinks he is brilliant. He also thinks Lamonte has created a bit of a circus around him that may be bad for Gruden. Specifically he thinks he has inserted hurdles for Gruden getting back into coaching- which Gruden wants to do.

I have also had beers with other guys in Lamonte's office that work with my during the holidays last year. His relationships with those guys are strong, and I think the info he gets is solid.

Take it for what it's worth. I am not trying to convert anyone to a new religion. Just sharing what was told to me by someone with good access.

Bye now

Kiffin 2.0

The first second the UW job came open, he would be gone.

Also, I really doubt his ability to recruit in the SEC.

Oh I agree about Wash.but Sark is doing a great job there and dont it opening anytime soon. But Mora is nowhere close to top of the list guys I would want.

Where did anyone say living in Knoxville validated their info more than others. I'll assume for a second you posted this in response to my post earlier about the terms. I simply asked a question and passed along some info I heard from a friend. No one claimed their info was any better than someone else's.

This is groundbreaking info.
Quick..... Somebody alert the media!!

What if Kiffen was fired? I bet USC's first call would be to Sark. Wouldn't be surprised to see that happen.

I think Stoops is the clear No. 2 after Gruden. I wouldn't expect that Mora, Jr. would Kiffin UCLA. Also think Stoops would have legitimate interest in UT and leaving the Big 12.

I think Mora would bolt UCLA like Kiffin did, which puts UT fans in an odd situation of being in the other position there. UT can double his salary and give him support that UCLA cant and wont. Remember, Mora was publicly lobbying for what I think was an occupied Washington job, while he was still with an NFL team. I dont think Mora Jr would be a big favorite in KNoxville from a PR perspective, similiar to Gruden. I would definitely want Stoops as the #2, but would be fine with Mora. Not sure Mora is a liekable guy like Stoops or Gruden, though. Just going by his past run ins with media and such. Ask Doug Gottlieb,

I heard that Lamonte came back to the University and lowered the terms. HMMMMMM, I wonder who told him to do that? Could it be that one can't compare this job to any other that Gruden has been offered because it is more than just business?

We are in total agreement.

I just wonder about Sark heading to USC when Kiffin gets canned. Could be as soon as next year.
