"If", if he does not get hired. It is out of our (my) control, so I will cheer and support the team I am given. I am speculating that most in this topic would do the same or move to plan B. One dreams and works towards that goal. You can't find gold if you never start digging the hole.

Just speculation here, but I'd say this happens:

1. The Official Jon Gruden threads end or slow down considerably.

2. The Vols either have Dooley next year, or some other Jr. High caliber coach

3. The Vols continue their exodus from college football's elite. And their journey from elite to mediocrity goes from a free fall into a "Pare Dive" mode.

4. Some of the posters who said Gruden was a done deal will claim something changed, some will claim they were just along for the fun and some will wonder what went wrong but never know.

5. Vandy will become the college football power in Tennessee.

However, I still think Gruden is on the way to UT, so I'll just wait and see. Should know something before 2013.

We're not even mediocre. Mediocre is middle of the pack. We can't even claim that. We're just bad.

A little off topic here but anyway.... On my way to the gym tonight, which isn't too far, I was proud of my fellow vol fans. I stopped at Walgreens and saw 3 people with their UT shirts on. Saw 5 or so cars with plates and/or flags and/or plates and/or stickers, and one little boy with his UT jersey on. On top of that, I live just outside of Memphis, and it got me to thinking. This fan base is still proud, and is just waiting to erupt! We deserve this! A sleeping giant is about to wake up!
