Official Jon Gruden Thread V

I'm sorry but ill listen to OV, SBV, Jay, and others before skeeter on this issue. Skeeter works in the AD, but the AD has had nothing to do with the Gruden talks so I don't see him knowing what Gruden wants and doesn't want. How would he know that Gruden doesn't want to be here "in our current state" when it's a heck of alot better than last time? Sorry I'm just not buying it until one of the more reliable people say otherwise. Heck, he was the one who started the 48 hours stuff only to be completely wrong.

Humor me... What have they been reliable about, thus far?

That Thrash in really "on" today....LOL. There's an old saying that says "Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak". We hear 'ya Thrash.

Alright, you tards carry on. I'm gonna go jump on the Patterson bandwagon.

Which event triggers Dooley getting axed before the season is over
a favorable outcome at the BOT meeting or a loss to Missouri?

IMO, the only way Jay Graham could know he is back is if he has been assured Dooley is coming back as well.

I admit I have been around here almost since the beginning and were hearing the same thing these guys are still hearing. Now all I hear is that Gruden is not even a possibility at this point and that Dooleys termination is not 100%. This from people in the AD, boosters, former and current players, and co workers with family that are involved in the decision making process. Take it for what its worth, I still am 100% on board with Gruden coming, but am more concerned Dooley could be retained than ever.

I just think the assertion that Graham has already talked to a replacement for the coach that was told he is fired 3 or 4 weeks ago he is not going to be retained. I heard the same thing, not faulting anyone, but the reason in my mind cannot allow me to believe this. It would have leaked to a major source or to the players and if the players know it would be everywhere.

Ugh!
Well, I'm gonna start drinking early today...

Per ESPN:
Tennessee (4-5, 0-5)
Playing for: Much like Chizik at Auburn, Derek Dooley is hanging by a thread and fighting to save his job. It may be a lost cause. The Vols are on their way to their worst defensive numbers in school history, but they can still finish with a 7-5 record and get to a bowl game.

Like hearing ESPN saying, "It may be a lost cause"!

Reading comprehension and common sense. Very expensive commodities. Not everyone can afford them.

There should be a church, somewhere, that feeds the needy. Like they feed the homeless.

Just give it away. They need it.

Not sure either will result in it happening before the end of the season.

I would say that losses to Mizz AND Vandy back to back weeks might put in interim in for Kentucky but I wouldn't bet on that at all.

Lost causes hate us......

Of the people on these boards, slice and sparty are the only ones I put any stock in. If I knew where these other guys got their info, or who they are, I might trust them.

I think you can put some trust in oldvol, too, but I don't really know the extent of his relationships inside the program.

Thanks for the clarification. As for me, I don't trust anyone all that much, but you do get a sense over time for those who have some legitimate contacts. I don't really think some of these staunch Grudenites with inside info are trying to blow smoke, but I'm sure they don't care if I'm a little skeptical of their info or at least of their "assuredness."

Hey, I hope they're right.

What? I never once said Gruden was a pipe dream and that there was 0% chance he was coming. I'm here for legitimate info, I just choose to take everything for what it's worth in here, unlike the majority, who cling to the "insiders" every word like it is gospel.

I can see why every reasonable poster gets run out of this thread so quickly. It's like a loony bin in here on some days. Especially if no good "news" has come out within 24 hours.

Reasonable poster call out. Cool.

Look, I don't care what you believe or who you trust. Since the two posters you trust do not post often in here, perhaps you could get their info more readily in an area they frequent more often. I'm in no way trying to run you off. On the contrary, I'm just trying to help a guy that has so much common sense find a way to receive his legitimate info since his trusted guys post elsewhere more than here.

If your sole purpose was the procurement of legit info, you would leave out the "common sense" and "reasonable poster" remarks. Since you don't, I don't trust you as a source because your posts suggest other reasons that you are here rather than the sole motive you state. Figuring that out just takes a little common sense.

The longer that there is no denial by UT's camp and Gruden's camp, I believe he's coming to Knoxville

As do I, but unfortunately, I don't think they are.
