The tone of what you said was indeed adversarial. There is no other way to describe it.Not being adversarial just don't believe he has been told anything.
Bu if you do believe he has been told you must also believe he is being extremely professional by keeping that quite for some reason. He deserves respect for doing just that. His buyout doesn't require that professionalism so that excuse holds zero water.
The $5 million is plenty of reason to keep his mouth shut if the rumors about him putting feelers out last year are true. That would effect his buyout. He was told he could go out on his terms.....that may mean a resignation with public support from the AD. That can help him land his next job.
There are many more reasons for him to play ball than not.
