Talked to a buddy of mine who is a manager on the team. He said Dooley told the team he's officIally done, and that an announcement would be made after UK. I think this timeline supports the Gruden rumors very well. I'm still all in.

The fan support has eroded to the point where this won't happen even if Hart wanted to keep him. Recruiting would suffer; player buy-in would suffer. I just can't see this even being a remote possibility anymore.

All of that is exactly what I expected from UT. I also expected that nothing was done with Gruden and that because no other names had been talked about, that most likely UT had not even begun a search for a coach.

Wrong. UT has been going thru the motions of gauging interest from other coaches for a few weeks already.

You may be right. But I truly think Hart was gonna give Dooley another year if he won out. Reports are he was fighting to not fire him. Who knows what really to believe, but knowing what has happened at UT in the past, I am more likely to believe that at the moment. We shall see.

Yes, Hart was giving Dooley a chance to save his job, BUT the $$$ guys put the squash on that idea.

Hart has publicly stated, numerous times, that he will "evaluate his coaches at the end of the season." If he does anything less then that he is a liar and losses all respect from coaches because at that point he is proving that he succumbs to the pressures of the boosters and the fans. He has to wait now in-order to keep his word. We have enough problems as it is, the last thing we need right now is potential coaches questioning their ability to trust Hart and his word, especially when Hart being a strong AD may be one of the few positives coming out of this administration right. JMO
