Conversations this morning coupled with new info on here make me almost as confident as I have ever been about our chances of landing Gruden. I am in a business that involves negotiation, things come together sometimes after everyone thinks they are done and over. That's where we are. Some thought since the agreement was basically outlined verbally that the first document drafted would be agreed to, and its not that easy. My peer that is involved in that end should know that as long as he has been doing this. He has no new info, but again he wouldn't until there is a need to formalize everything.

Gruden has not been asked about the Tennessee job since all this mess started with Dooley

I never was completely off, just that something happened that made it go from a verbal agreement to a refusal to sign an outline of terms. This concerned me greatly, still does. I am not one of those that is saying "OMG he is coming". I am better than 50-50 now as I said before, conversations this morning have reinforced that position. Apparently the snag hit is one that can be overcome.

Dude I am a fan lucky enough to have a job where a lot of people talk to me about all sorts of things. The nature of it means a lot of UT people are amongst those I talk to a lot. Those include current and former players, alumni, boosters, and members -support staff of the AD. I am not reporting as a journalist, but as a fan that loves the Vols. Bottom line is I report what I hear, and what I hear is that I base my opinions on. I do not live and breathe by the absolute literal basis in known fact of anything I am told, and only post the 3-5% that I actually put credence in.

Why would he, Tennessee has a coach that has not been released publicly. It only becomes a story once it is announced. Have heard this today from two people that again have no reason to lie or make things up since their station in life would not be improved by doing so. One is a former player still involved with the school who is visibly upset at the thought of Gruden coming here too, he doesn't want it. Even so, he swears it is an ongoing negotiation and the ONLY reason Dooley has not been announced. Take it for what it is, I do.

He wants a known college asset like Patterson or Stoops he said, someone that will see Tennessee as a huge job not a "step down" his quote.

I want Gruden to be the next coach at UT but some of the reasons for the cloak and dagger routine do not pass muster. For example, if Dooley was fired and Gruden had agreed to become the next HC at Tennessee why could Gruden not finish out MNF?

He does have a contract with MNF so wouldn't it be right for him to finish out season?

On a side note the fact that dooley is still the coach gives me no confidence that UT will win either one of their next two games. He is inept and his players have no respect for him whatsoever!

Why is this former player upset at the thought of Gruden coming here? If I may ask. I wonder if it is for the same reasons I have put forward. :hi:Just curious
