He knows his fate, I am 100% certain of that now. The only reasons to not announce all involve future coaches being considered. If there is no upside to announcing, they will not, nor should they. If there was going to be a "search" the announcement would have been made already.
If Gruden is still the main target, and I fully believe he is, then the moment Dooley is announced a microphone goes into his face at every opportunity forcing him to comment. Right now his comment is "Tennessee has a coach".
Conversations this morning coupled with new info on here make me almost as confident as I have ever been about our chances of landing Gruden. I am in a business that involves negotiation, things come together sometimes after everyone thinks they are done and over. That's where we are. Some thought since the agreement was basically outlined verbally that the first document drafted would be agreed to, and its not that easy. My peer that is involved in that end should know that as long as he has been doing this. He has no new info, but again he wouldn't until there is a need to formalize everything.
Gruden has not been asked about the Tennessee job since all this mess started with Dooley
