Damn straight! I like the way you think.

I just got thru telling a friend that we have a chance with him and he says to me "well, when I'm walking down the street and see a pretty girl I lust after her but don't think I have a chance". That is the mentality of too many UT fans nowadays. Most fans have an inflated opinion of their place in college football. UT fans downplay our place and if a few of us think we are worthy then we get called names and to know our role to quote the Rock. Sick of it. If this were to all fall apart I won't regret one minute of having hope.

What would be your take on Pittman? I have followed you & Jay, OV, DTO, Gman, SBV, Bcarter, & a few more since the beginning of Gruden thread I. I'm all in on Gruden, and I truly believe you guys. TIA.

If you are saying the info about him wanting to keep DD then I agree. If you are suggesting he is telling media folks like tony b and Ainge to lie I don't.

Ainge and TB get their info from boosters. And if anyone heard TB today he gave the weakest attempt to pour water on this fire that I have heard in some time while speaking with Jerry Colquitt. Said that TN has cooled on Gruden, and the main concern was the fact that he....wait for it...yells a lot. Colquitt in so many words said that was ridiculous, and went on to say a lot of what has been stated here-that Gruden is a teacher of the game, and would love the college game.

I'm tired of the "we are JUST little ole' Tennessee..why would Jon Gruden come here?" mentality....why the hell wouldn't he come here is the question!? Beautiful area to live. The best facilities in the nation. A rabid fan base that is just waiting. He would be a fool if he didn't take it.

You know, it's easy to get sucked into that-especially from afar when you are watching at home, and I have been guilty of this of late as the smoke screens have gone up since the rumors started going nuts weeks ago. And then you go into town for a game and realize that this IS a top 10 program. You can't tailgate all day, watch a game in that stadium-especially a conference game-and then say it isn't.

Who here thinks JG is currently (or already has been), watching tape of prospective HS players? If the time frames that have been posted here are accurate or close to accurate, that leaves barely over a month from the announcement until the dead period sets in for recruiting. Enough time to possibly turn some recruits, but certainly not enough time to start watching film from scratch, in order to determine which guys you need to target.

We would vault into the top 5 right away...And it's not just because we would have Jon Gruden. It's because this place had infected Jon Gruden (Super Bowl winning, ESPN rock star, etc.) to the point that HE wanted to come here over other college and NFL jobs. He has openly spoken about how much he loves it here-how he credits Majors for getting him started, etc, etc. I haven't heard anyone say this about Mississippi State, South Carolina, or Miami of late.

...and the irony is that people on this board knows more than them, and gets info quicker than they do.

The one thing I'm sure of whether you like Tony or not (I happen to like him) is that he is a HUGE fan of UT and supporter. He would outright back off and even be willing to look foolish if he thought it might help in some small way to get this deal done.
