So to OP what is your gut feeling on names? Sounds like they are not exactly wanting to go after someone they feel would leave us high and dry for their dream job. With that feeling coming across makes me think more and more of it being Cutcliffe.
I have serious concern based up upon some remarks the President has made in regards to "under-the-table" gun control measures, as well as his supposed support for the UN Small Arms treaty.
The small arms treay will not effect UT however....we are entering the arms race for WMD's by hiring John Gruden. The rest of the SEC is going to playing with BB guns in comparison.
How about that for lead-in?:hi:
I would say yes because, even though he had some good ones in there, he lost consistency in approach every time there was a change.
Names being thrown around outside of Gruden or Davis are a little premature considering they are still coaching other teams. There may be some interest from currently employed coaches but I don't know how serious those talks are at this time and cannot be taken seriously.
Pretty sure he stated that CJG was the only one mentioned.
What's the boards thoughts on Hinshaw?
Some coaches have performed on this staff, but I am only in favor of retaining Graham and only because he is a VFL (and he has coached the backs well).
We need to clear the losing stench from this current regime from UT. The new coach needs to be able to create his own staff. Creates better loyalty.
One of the problems for DD in taking this job is that he was forced to deal with the Kiffin leftovers.
he had a conversation with a friend today...
I heard the conversation ......won't say how.
believe it if you want or don't but I swear it happened..
said UT HAD contacted him and he was not talking to ANYONE about it.....
he did not know anyone could hear.....he doesn't know me....
I will not reveal my source.....
in other words.... he isnt sharing with anyone what he is or is not going to do....I had huge doubts until today....

My boss is friends with the former oline coach of the bucs who is currently unemployed thanks to the Greg Shiano hiring/Raheem Morris firing. They talk, text and golf regularly in Clearwater area. At least up until all of this Gruden talk started getting hot and heavy. About a month + ago he confirmed JG was talking to a few teams about the possibility of returing to coaching after MNF is over this year. a couple were NFL and one was UT. He wouldnt give much details other than he was seriously considering coaching again next year and UT was being considered. One plus he mentioned with UT over the NFL offers was that the cost of living here was much less and the fact that we have no state income tax made UT very attractive. one week later he confirmed that JG had decided where he wanted to go if things worked out contractually and said the JG meet with him and another coach (he wouldnt say who) to gauge their interest in coming with him IF he took the job. I tell you this because two days later, when my boss texted him for an update he politely but frimly informed him that he could no longer talk, text or meet with anyone regarding JG and his future. This was at JG's request and he was very firm about it. Since then he will not take my bosses phone calls, answer texts nothing. My boss read the story from TOS today about 11/26 being JG's last day on MNF and texted him to ask and he would only say that, JG will be with MNF til the end of the year. This is the first time in 3 weeks he has even sent a reply to him regardless of the subject. This doesnt confirm anything regarding UT, only that JG is being very quite about his future and that he is demanding the same from the people around him.
Cost of living, and the state income tax point have been expressed to me as key selling points. We talked about that being a key for JG about a month ago.TIFWIW

I have a very professional source who is very reliable and doesn't blow sunshine. You don't get to a net worth of near half a billion dollars by blowing sunshine. He is very conservative in his assessments.

Boro, I do remember that being discussed. Spot on.Cost of living, and the state income tax point have been expressed to me as key selling points. We talked about that being a key for JG about a month ago.
Also the silence from the Gruden side of this confirms a lot of what I've been told about who is driving the behaviour surrounding all of this. Makes sense.
Thanks for sharing.:salute:
