I don't think people would hate Chaney as much if our D was better. He wouldn't have to feel like he's in a shootout all the time and could run the ball more. On the other hand, he does make questionable at best play calling and doesn't run off enough clock when he needs to. So there's pros and cons to CJC

Chaney is a good coach, but I prefer a more balanced system in the SEC. Of course, he may be playing to his strengths but he seems like a pass first guy.

I'm appreciative of his sticking with us through tough times, but the incoming coach will want his own system. Chaney will certainly land on his feet. He has a great resume.

May make an avi out of this.

For the life of me I still don't get the Chaney hate.

There have been some good results but the offense has seemed undisciplined at times and seems to lack mental toughness to perform when the chips are down. It could be the personality of some of the players but ultimately its on the OC to coach it or get players in that can perform. I'd like to see what our options are before I committed to Chaney.

You don't sit back and coach an offense with a QB who has a howitzer, and two thoroughbreds on the outside and hand the ball off 35 times a game. He is playing to his strengths, and just got matched up with the worst defensive coordinator this university has ever seen. Jim Chaney on offense and John Chavis on defense would be playing in Atlanta in December...and it also makes all the sense in the world for the next coach to keep that side of the ball intact-especially if Bray leaves. You have 2 QBs that have been in the system, and understand it, by all accounts. But, that's just my opinion.

So, where is Babyavi now that all these positive Grude vibes are propogating? He may be unavailable because he is getting his 27" Mac upgraded to use Mountain Lion.

Tracking the news on this is so fun! Thanks to all the insiders for taking the time to provide input.

My mother died in June from cancer. I was really dreading this time of year, and it's still tough, but hanging out in here (mostly reading) with you guys cracks me up and fills me with excitement for this hire.

You guys rock! :clapping:

God bless, sorry for your loss...my mother passed last March at 87 yrs old and she only missed listening or watching the Vols a few times since 1964 she was all Vol

I totally get what you're saying. Things might be different if we had a Lattimore type RB. Unfortunately, we haven't had that since Chaney has been here. And I'll say that the offense has performed well given the amount of pressure that has been put on it. I'm not dogging the guy. I think he has done a good job but don't see him making the staff of the future HC.

I lost my mother to stomach cancer in February of 2002. Not a day goes by i don't think about her. As the days pass you will learn to cherish your memories with her more and more. Keep your head up, I'll keep you in my prayers. Godspeed and Go Vols!

Thanks man. Didn't mean to take the thread down a depressing road. It's part of life I guess. Worst thing I've faced by far.

Eh, I guess nothing wrong with sharing tough stuff with your Vol brethren too. :)

Why do people get so offended by this thread? Do people need to look up the definitions of "rumor" and "speculation?" Damn, people, just try having a little fun....:D
