Any that believed in math or basic statistical analysis felt Obama was a 90%+ favorite. There were numerous polls stating such. Anyone who felt differently was just interpreting numbers to fit their vision.

The Gruden situation is based solely on speculation and innuendo. And in this case, there are no true "sources" - just people talking to sound important, powerful, or in the know. So realistically, there is a 0-100% chance of Gruden coming. No one knows. At this point, not even Gruden, I bet.

Sure, it's exciting. But I'm just shocked by the number of people that swear up and down its done.

It's easy to con people after a tragedy - fake insurance deals after a hurricane for example - the Dooly hire has been a tragedy and there are a hell of a lot of people getting conned right out of their jock straps.

No because you seem to get a thrill of trying to make happy people unhappy. We have our own thread, with 8 versions, almost 100k posts and has to be 4-5million page views and everyone is just making things up. Man it doesn't even make sense at this point to not buy into this at some level. If not just go to Football Forum and have a Dooley circle jerk with the other 25-30 people left that like him and think he is as good as our program deserves.

Then again, I wouldn't buy into it either if the only thing I was basing it on was anonymous message board posters. I just wouldn't go out of my way to be an *******, which is exactly what you are doing.

Ok...just had an amazing conversation, and I have just become completely emotionally detached from this situation because I am 100% for sure, Gruden is coming. I didn't mean for myself to fall into the situation that has transpired, but it happened.

A brief synopsis, and it all lines up with everything that has been credibly posted here:

-$9M is the mark for coach and staff (as it was explained to me, $9M is a mark that these boosters have said it would take to get the University out of the dump)

-we will possibly know tomorrow if we lose to Vandy, but "they" will know tonite. Either way, the exact timeline will be laid out after the Vandy game.

-I didn't get into too many intricate details, for proprietary reasons, but I was assured that this is done...and the exact words were, "UT has no choice. We are hurting badly and this is the only option we have, and everyone involved knows it. No other coach can pull this off at this time."

I agree, you have to believe and have faith. Thing is several people on here and I converse outside the thread and only about 10% of the actual stuff has been posted. What is missing is names of who said what, and pictures and such to substantiate relationships.

Depends on what you consider a true source, but based on what I know there are at least 4 "True Sources" that have been posting here regularly.

Whys is saying Gruden is not coming a negative? There are other quality coaches we could pursue. I want an elite coach as much as anyone, bu there is not one legitimate piece of information out there pointing to anyone, let alone Gruden.

Sounds like very good info, recurring theme with what I hear. There is not a solid 2nd option, its Gruden or a search and interview process. UT can and will do what is necessary to get him. Glad you got to talk to your friend. Did you say baseball in late 1980s? Im sure we know some of the same people.

The woods are full of good coaches, as well as bad coaches. Gruden has shown the potential to be a GREAT coach. And if he comes to UT and is great, stands to reason that UT would become great.
