Given that he coaches in the Big 12 and borders Texas, he should be going 11-1 and 12-0 like every year. The one loss should only come against Texas and they've been sucking too.

He's been to what, 2 championships in the past 10 years?? He plays in a poor conference and gets top talent.

I would be fine with hiring Stoops but to think he'll come to Tennessee where it's harder to recruit and magically go undefeated in the SEC is unrealistic imo.

Miles struggled at Oklahoma State and Saban struggled at Michigan State. They accomplished more with less. They got better when they went to a better school. Stoops accomplishes less with more and Tennessee is a tougher job.

Jmo. I guess I have a rotten brain because I'd take Gundy, Fitzgerald and Mullen over Stoops. They've done a lot with less. I would like to see what they could do with Tennessee's resources.

I like Stoops, but to be the backup plan for every Texas player not to get into Texas and still not go undefeated or nearly so every year is telling.

The Big XII has only gotten weaker over the last few years and yet he is still not consistently in National Championship hunts.

I don't know about anybody else but I can't wait to hear Barbara Dooley go off on one of her on-air crazy old lady rants...
"you ruined my baby precious' morning! He wanted to enjoy counting all of his money and Mr. Hart interrupted him...I'm Barbara Dooley and nobody messes with my son counting money he never should have earned in the first place"

Let's get a list together....

1. Experience in the SEC.
2. Proven Winner
3. Integrity
4. Head Coach
5. Named Jon Gruden

How will we ever find a guy that fits those criteria?

All here gather for the prophecy:

It is told that during the impending fortnight, this very forum will attain a tenth and final Official Jon Gruden Thread. And on that wond'rous night, it is told, a light will appear above Knoxville, and steadily descend upon Neyland. And crowds will gather in bemusement to witness this spectacle. And as a chorus of 102,455 trumpets plays Rocky Top, it is told, we will instantly recognize the fallen star as The Peyton. "Hark!" he will exclaim. "I am The Sheriff, the Sole Authority of Fort Kickass, Destroyer of Worlds, and I have come to show you the light." The Sheriff will extend his hand to Gate 21 and proclaim "I give you, The Grude One." and The Grude One will indeed step from the shadows wearing a super sweet UT hoodie.

Source: I know some boosters.

This scenario is more believable than most religious texts. Well done.

Richt won a championship at UGA? I didn't know that..

Stoops should have done far better at OU than he has done. Respectable for sure, but you need to take into consideration that he played in the BigXII, which is vastly inferior to the SEC. If he cant win in Oklahoma, how will he do in SEC country?

I'll say this....Mention Gruden as the new HC and Hart can expect Neyland to sell out for the next three years....plus recruits will be begging to visit.

Now on Stoops....he would do great here because he does know the SEC since he was Spurrier's DC at FL. He knows the hotbeds of recruits not just here in the south but in the midwest and especially Texas area. Both him and Gruden have major name recognition that would help across the board.
