Official Jon Gruden Thread XII

People wanted more info, well this is the best I can do without giving away my source.

We are still getting Gruden.

Golden is interviewing. Just because he's the "first" to take place doesn't mean he's option 2 if things fall through.

Gruden isn't going to screw over the people he's working with now and have arranged to work with in the future. He's a man if his word.

He wants to get the last check from Tampa to kind of "stick it to them".

I said earlier that I wouldn't be surprised if this moved into next week or further. Just be patient. These next few days will be telling.

Go vols!

Most worthless "in the know" post I have ever seen.

Babyvols quote was "guys it's still gruden". He didn't go in to detail. He mentioned a meeting was to take place yesterday (he said this the day before, tuesday). He aknowledged this morning he did not know why it got canceled. He then later came back and said "guys its still gruden".

I'm like a cat over water clawing for all hope. I am all Gruden until someone else walks across the floor and is introduced as HC.

LWS bomb in the cliff notes - finally admits something is going on - and we continue to bicker in this thread about instutional control and cindy's geographical awareness.

I have to believe that if Gruden was out...he would have told us so with a very nice press release. And if most everything had not been agreed upon by the time Dooley was fired then we would know something from the University on the status of Gruden! I just dont see how Gruden has not denied by know if he is not coming and I dont see how the university could not have been 99.99999% sure he would take the job be for they fired Dooley and through Grudens name into the pot! The PR nightmare and fallout of all of this will be huge! There certainly better ways the AD could have spun all of this weather he is coming or not!

zjcvols needs to just edit his previous cliff note rather than attach another to the end. He should know better as a mod.

Jake, can you give me some kind of update brother? I've been covered up with work.

I just got an answer from a text I sent out last night....that said, " I don't THINK it's going to happen. I THINK it's dead actually."

But I still believe that there is some truth to the due diligence and personal/work related topic. And that if the truth behind these locked doors is such, then I'll be chewing my fingernail down to their cuticles if we are still without a head coach come mid-December. This part is nothing more than my complete speculation and opinion.

I just think that if/when all parties want the same end result...patience becomes the controlling factor.

At least one TN fan will post at least once every day about a football coach presser until someone is right. I love my life.

Does ESPN/MNF have anything to do with why it is dragging on as long as it is? Is it possible we won't get an announcement till the week of the last MNF game?

This has been discussed at my house too. We thought it would be friggin fabulous if he announced that he was coming to UT on the last MNF game since it's in Nashville and all. Tirico says, "Well Jon, it's been great working with you, good luck in your next endeavor", then Jon says, "thanks Mike, you'll have to come visit me on Rocky Top".

or something to that effect. I know it's not going to go down that way, but imagine the buzz and number of recruits that would be looking to TN.:)

I can't quote chapter and verse of the NCAA regs, but there is a simple compliance issue here. The NCAA insists that the Board of Trustees have direct involvement and ownership of institutional controls. Yes there will be staff that does the blocking and tackling of compliance activities, but overall control is not something that can be delegated. So imagine this - if UT publically announces they have given their Head Football Coach full institutional control, I suspect you'd be reading the very next day about severe sanctions being handed down from the NCAA for lack of institutional control purely on the basis of hard proof of negligence of duties by the Board of Trustees. It wouldn't take an actual violation. The public statement would be all they need.

yeah i don't know. all i am saying is give him what we can that will not get us in trouble he should have the same control as saban and if this is done and gruden turns it down then we tryed

Sorry man, just now seeing this. You probably have gotten a grasp of things by now. OGs that have checked in are still solid. Skeeter posted some info that have some questioning things...it's in the cliff notes. Not much new, far as I can tell.

Thanks buddy. Just saw what Larry posted... some positive chit, for sure.
