Official Jon Gruden Thread XII

First off, I have really liked skeeter as a source and quality poster. But I think that his sudden change of heart on whether or not Gruden is the RIGHT coach is irrational.

If Gruden was #1, and Cowher was #2. I hear what you're saying - maybe Gruden isn't the best fit for reasons x, y, and z. Ok, let's go to Cowher.

But let's be honest about the situation.

There is Gruden and then there is a freefall to option #2. It's like choice #1 for a one-nighter is an NFL Cheerleader and choice #2 is a contestant on the biggest loser... BEFORE the show starts taping.

Plan A: Gruden and very likely success.

Plan B: Planned obsolescence

I've made this very argument myself. Thank you. If you like where you are and you can stay there with the primary income earner able to maintain employment while there, you don't usually move. The family had been there for years. Roots were put down.

If Gruden wants to coach, it won't be in Tampa. They'll have to move no matter how you slice it.

It's pretty simple to me as well.

Let's see....

Philly versus Knoxville? Wonder which one momma might choose?

Babyvols quote was "guys it's still gruden". He didn't go in to detail. He mentioned a meeting was to take place yesterday (he said this the day before, tuesday). He aknowledged this morning he did not know why it got canceled. He then later came back and said "guys its still gruden".

Agreed, if she wanted to be in Knoxville and wielded that much power or her husband, they would be in Knoxville. It's not like JG is tied to a desk in Tampa to support his family.

Agreed, but also, if she knows he's going to go back to coaching, maybe she would rather be in Knoxville than any of the NFL cities. Just another point of view.

People wanted more info, well this is the best I can do without giving away my source.

We are still getting Gruden.

Golden is interviewing. Just because he's the "first" to take place doesn't mean he's option 2 if things fall through.

Gruden isn't going to screw over the people he's working with now and have arranged to work with in the future. He's a man if his word.

He wants to get the last check from Tampa to kind of "stick it to them".

I said earlier that I wouldn't be surprised if this moved into next week or further. Just be patient. These next few days will be telling.

Go vols!

Dude, they fly him privately when he does Gameday in Gainesville and then has to get to Ann Arbor to call a game that same night. Other than that, he is flying commercial. Read....

I know. I was supporting your previous post. He only flies private on Game day to his game.

Interesting since he has been seen in multiple public airports.

OK, well I guess I stand corrected. That blows my mind really. I've worked for companies that had their own jets before and flown on them, and that wasn't near the scale of the ESPN operation. Maybe Herbstreet was being humble there.

I do know this though, It's very nice to drive up to the hanger, park the car there, have a couple of pilots and a box of pasties waiting, and off you go. No TSA agents and hassling with checked bags etc.

Also, it's probably common knowledge, but worth saying: Most folks that fly privately don't advertise their planes with corporate logo's. Tail numbers are about the only clue as to who might be on the jet you see parked out at the airport.

I'll look for Corso in MaGhee Tyson next time Gameday comes to Knoxville!
