Full disclosure: I've never been that confident we were getting Gruden. 50/50 at best.

That being said: none of today adds up, especially LaMonte's comments. They conflict with things we know to be true and are almost over the top. Also: there is still no official statement from Gruden himself or UT. It's just odd.

I was fully prepared to get the "let down" and give up on Gruden.

I did not expect this embarrassment and language coming from Lamonte.

I just dont believe he really made those statements. No professional agent would refer to a perspective employer as living in a fantasy world.

I simply am not buying it.

The quote did not say the U of T was living in a fantasy world. It actually said that there had been no negotiations. It said that the speculation rumors were a fantasy because no conversations or negotiations had taken place.

No one held a gun to your head, did they? You choose to believe what you want to believe, as I have. Until I see Dave Hart or Jon Gruden announcing publicly it's over, then there is always a chance. I do not believe JG's agent would be so low to say what he supposedly said. I don't think JG would allow him to say such.

So Hart calls LaMonte to do his due diligence and gauge whether there is any interest and LaMonte tell's Hart you and your fans are living in a "fantasy land" if you think Jon Gruden has interest in coaching the University of Tennessee football team. Uh huh. Is this how it went down?
