Official Jon Gruden Thread XIII

From January:

"Bob LaMonte, the NFL superagent who represents Browns President Mike Holmgren, Browns GM Tom Heckert, Browns Executive Vice President Bryan Wiedmeier, Browns head coach Pat Shurmur, and Browns quarterbacks coach Mark Whipple."

Interesting tidbit - 2 ways to look at it IMO:

1. All these folks are out of a job or soon will be due to new owner who is in the "UT family", so to speak. So LaMonte could be downright ticked about that and have a bad taste in his mouth toward UT in general

2. LaMonte has so many clients so close to current Browns owner, if Boosters have been involved in any of the Gruden talk, no way (I mean no way), contact with Gruden's agent about UT job didn't happen months ago. Might not have been Hart - but there's no way talk of the UT job just occurred in the last week

Folks - clue in to the misinformation festival that's happening here. Not saying which way this is going to turn out - but a lot more nonsense being spewed in the public eye than common sense suggests is possible.

I tried to pass the info a long from what I got from a certain agent without blatant, but who told me Sunday that Jimbo Fisher was gonna be our guy. When asked how sure he was he said 95%.

But since I'm not an OG I don't guess anyone will believe me.

Maybe this fantasy land thing was a leverage move from the agent for us to meet Grudens demands or move on so the client can pursue othe opportunities.

again? how is it hart's fault if gruden said no period?

It depends on which story you believe...if gruden just wasnt interested, no blame on hart. He swung for the fences but came up short.

If you believe he didnt come up with the money or the control gruden asked for, then hart deserves blame.

He needs to put a very good coach on the sidelines next year or he may have a short career here.

Seriously? It doesn't make sense? It doesn't add up?

Local media says it's not happening.
National media says it's not happening.
Gruden's agent says it's not happening.
People citing Gruden sources say it's not happening.
People citing AD sources say it's not happening.
Fans think it might still happen.

What exactly doesn't add up or seems odd about that?

hargis with a 20 plus year of integrity saying it was on the table and had his editor back check his sources that's what was/is happening..folks that is an agent..he is paid to lie..gruden is over when new coach introduced that is not Gruden

The quote did not say the U of T was living in a fantasy world. It actually said that there had been no negotiations. It said that the speculation rumors were a fantasy because no conversations or negotiations had taken place.

Some of our fans needs to stop, read, and think.

And these people choose their words carefully.

So you still holding out hope for Gruden?

I've got an idea.. Why don't you sh!t stirrers and "I told you so"s got start a thread and talk about how stupid we are for believing that there was even a remote possibility that UT could attract someone like Gruden. Please forgive the Grudenites for having hope that TN could be relevant again.
