Official Jon Gruden Thread XIII

Stephen Hargis, the guy who wrote the article, was just on the radio in Chattanooga. He said he was absolutely certain that everything his source told him was true. Said his source spoke to Gruden directly about being an assistant on staff (that narrows it down quite a bit I would think), and the only hang up was that Gruden wanted more money for assistants. He stands by everything he wrote.

Go ahead and walk away naysayers! I can't keep up with all the posts with you in here anyway. Good GRUddance.

I say, 'eff the Grudens!

If they call tomorrow saying that they want to come, i would say 'no thank you'!

We need a man who is 100% committed!

Why all the bashing towards Jay,Boro,Bcarter,Jake or any other of these guys ? All they were doing was sharing the info that they were getting. I never once seen them post anything and tell you people to believe it. I have been here since day one and I have always been 50/50 on Gruden but it was nothing they said that made be believe either way. You trolls sound like a bunch of whiney azz kids that want to say I told you so. Its pretty pathetic how supposedly grown men act like little kids. If they had happened to be right and Gruden was hired you same people would either be no where in the thread or done changed your name and jumped on board. Plus if nobody was in here giving what info they had you people would be complaining about nobody giving any infor out.
I dont know any of these people I named but its pretty sad to try and bash somebody for giving info that they gave out and info that you same people were looking for.Nobody made you people buy into anything they posted and if you didnt buy into what they were giving you wouldnt be here bashing them right now.

I know it has already been posted but its still funny!! :pepper:

At this point... if it comes down to some of the names being thrown out there, I want Fulmer back... I'm still holding hope for Gruden based on how all the stories didn't line up whatsoever, but I'm not as confident.

Hey, I want Gruden as much as the next guy. But the fact that these people have thrown out all of this information from unconfirmed sources and allowed our gullible fan base to eat it up to the point of literally embarrassing our University to anyone who pays the slightest attention to college football,

There nothing more than liars at this point. Living in a fantasy Land

What's to be embarrassed about? We have had three straight losing seasons and lost to Vandy and Kentucky during that span. We have lived embarrassed so we thought we'd give hope a try. Quit crying.:cray:

Although I understand you are being tongue-in-cheek, there is something off putting about even Jon Gruden if we end up having to beg. I'd be lying if I said this didn't make me feel icky.

I am not sure what I am more upset with, the Gruden let down or that I still find myself glued to this darn computer thinking something is going to change.

I don't drink alcohol, however after this let I think I may start. Any suggestions on what I should start with?

Then UT did not hire a search firm but did hire a firm to handle negotiations behind the scenes?

Par for the course in these sorts of situations. The search firm wasn't necessary because Hart already had a list, this has been in the works for a long time.

WGOW 102.3 Sports Talk is about to air in Chattanooga, if anyone wants to hear Dr. B graph about todays events. I guarantee you he will have to defend his stance.

think about it.. the more coaching prospects that get taken off the table, the better the end result will be. We will be "forced buyers" of a big name. Our program, and the Knoxville economy cant go another 5 years like this. We have the money and the people who can get more...

For Gruden, what job are you being groomed for? Seriously. Do you know of any other offers he has? Dallas - no way he is working with Jones. Not gonna happen. He had that setup and TB and got HOSED. San Diego - maybe, but thats going to be a rebuild and moving family AGAIN. Some big names have failed there and honestly, big named players have wanted to steer clear of there (Manning, etc). They are a mediocre program, always will be. Philly - gimme a break?! You think Cindy Gruden wants to live on the Mainline? Ugggggh. No way. Sorry. And you think Gruden wants that QB situation. Yeah right. Disaster.

Tennessee could be a 10 year, rest of his career move. He would be a superstar and know that a big enough bet and Tennessee would be with him thru thick or thin because he can coach, sell his experience/NFL ties, and even if he has a down year... you have to hang with him because of the budget. ***And*** the deal has to assure him the longevity and profitability he wants in case it doesnt go as planned. His brand will be hurt some. He might not get the next shot in the NFL if for some (outrageously small) reason it doesnt go well. He has to make sure you lock him up, but he has the wiggle room to move on if he wants to after 3 or 4 yrs.
Honestly, if he gets our program back to the status it was... whats the harm that he moves on?
Who else, even if they stay a short time, could possibly turn us around that fast? He knows we are in a position to pay a premium. We need this turned.. and fast!!!

So everyone please put down the swords and pistols, and lets just let things play out. Maybe hes playing cards here, to see what we do. Going nuts, kicking and crying, isnt going to help our cause.
