With all the coaching vacancies, I don't mind the secretive nature, as long as we don't end up with a dumb hire. Close to the vest can keep you out of bidding wars.

Jay don't sweat it. If the results of a coaching search can destroy people's lives, then they didn't have much of one to begin with. You offered information and we all have to decide what we will believe. Thanks for offering the info. Some of us appreciated it.

Regardless of the outcome of this search, Hart has handled this coaching search terribley.

They have believed that they could control the flow of information by being tight-lipped about everything. Well, they cannot not control the flow of information from those who would bankroll the operation who are outside the UT Adm..

Gruden did say no himself on mike and mike, followed with he like's his job and want's to keep it!! which led to everyone on here saying his no meant yes, and it was all smokescreen

If it had to be done, it had to be done. When Gruden is hired nobody will care about what was said today.

My thoughts exactly, there are 5-7 names that I think would be great hires for this university and as long as it is not another up and comer I will be ok...

ESPN made an interesting comment, they said that SEC teams might need to think outside the SEC mold for coaching answers. They were referring to arky and they basically said that it worked for A&M and no one would be able to do what Bama and LSU do as good as them. If we followed A&M's route maybe we could find a coach that has a uniqueness about them that can win here...

My daughter has a birthday party tomorrow. My family is all on anitbiotics and steroids, but we are all healthy and happy. That makes me happy.

Now...I've said for weeks, either this contract is done or not. That was two weeks ago. I think that Gruden gave us a list of demands week ago, and that those have been met through a series of calculated movements, but if we are really still negotiating based on what we are hearing now....it isn't good.

I'm not trying to make promises, and today is a perfect example of why I don't like dates. Dates change too easily.

Who is to say that Alabama didn't have a deal with Nick Saban after their first meeting?

Stephen Hargis, the guy who wrote the article, was just on the radio in Chattanooga. He said he was absolutely certain that everything his source told him was true. Said his source spoke to Gruden directly about being an assistant on staff (that narrows it down quite a bit I would think), and the only hang up was that Gruden wanted more money for assistants. He stands by everything he wrote.

Someone is lying and this leads me to believe there is additional goings-on somewhere...

Honestly, I wish it were cut and dry so I can be done with it.
