Official Jon Gruden Thread XIII

You heard it here first. Chuck Norris, John Gruden, Mike Ditka, and Zeus all wanted the job but Rod "made them an offer they couldn't refuse" to step aside. Something about a can of gas, waterproof matches, petroleum jelly and a shower banister.

We are saved.

FIGHT BACK

But for cereal...

101ESPN.com: Audio Player -

32:20 minute mark start listening.

Keep in mind this is a close friend of his hosting the show. Check it out.

That was a crazy good interview. That is 100 times better than anything someone will hear from Hyams/Rucker/Hubbs/ etc. They discuss it all and I think really gives the listener a glimpse into Gruden's thinking regarding all the ins and outs of the college job.

I have no idea what will happen, but to those who say "no way Gruden" is coming, there is a very real chance that he is, and it has yet to play out.

This story has a lot of traction now. It is probably the hottest non-game story in football. JG is one of the biggest celebrities going. So, it is all but certain that countless reporters and broadcast producers are bugging the h3ll out of both sides. That said, I can assure you that as soon as one of the two parties knows it is a dead deal, a VERY creditable source, or more likely sources, will release as much. You might even have a direct denial from both sides. Unless they are using the media to their benefit, public figures hate the media. They hate talking to them and don't want them in their business.

The only way is a dead deal and we don't know is if one of the two parties doesn't want the other to know either. For the life of me, I can not imagine why UT admin would benefit from that. Chuckie is the fan favorite.

Maybe JG would, but it would seem contrary to everything he has said about UT in the past as well as contrary to how he addressed the exact same rumors the last time around.

It almost has to be in the works to some extend at least.

Look, if Gruden wants total control Hart should say "I will give anything you want within NCAA regulations."
Even Hart knows that the program is on a historical teetering point and will either go the way of Ole Miss after the Rebs had their good times 40-50 years ago or we return to being SEC East contenders each year. If we fail now we may never recover in our lifetimes since Tennessee is not a talent rich state for high school players. If Hart does not realize this and is not willing to give Gruden anything he wants within NCAAA rules he should not be our athletic director.
