Yes, funny hat does bring a new perspective. The soothsayers of the Neyland jungle have been for too reliant on the words of Barney, a man with one unloaded bullet.

Barney better be ready to load that bullet up and then some if tarzan becomes king of jungle he might want to give larry, moe, curly a few rounds to they will need it.

You know, Haslam might just be giving Hart enough rope to hang himself. Think about it. Hart scuttles Gruden because he guarantees somebody better. Comes back and proposes Dooley 2.0. The incompetence would shine through and make it really easy to fire his sorry azz, replace him with Fulmer or Blackburn, and make the Gruden hire.

Makes sense to me....

Lex - what is your version of events on Thursday? Hart and JG cross swords in some way? I'm still mostly speculating about what might have gotten this thing off the tracks. And here is why I'm baffled...

For those that don't know, I believe there was a meeting just before thanksgiving between the big boys and JG. Everyone left that meeting believing he would be the next HC. Hence the heightened messages of "done deal" many of us probably heard around Thanksgiving. My understanding is the official players would be getting involved to get a deal done. Then some noise started midweek. Then Thursday it's off? I don't get how that could happen. The juice was was squarely behind getting Gruden up to that point.

Pick it up from there...

On Thanksgiving (unrelated to this info)...I had it confirmed that talks with Gruden had been occurring for months. I got a text that day confirming that it was done.

Now, several days before that, I had already been told that our next coach was attained, but I got the same info that you did on Thanksgiving. I was also told that an announcement may be forthcoming on Friday.

My handicap is that I don't trust dates and times. Like the OG's I was told that Dooley was done after MSU (with a loss). The people giving me that info were totally unrelated to what was being spouted here.

About three weeks ago, I got info that the AD was beginning to leak about Gundy, Fisher, Golden, Fedora, Strong etc. It made no sense for that list to be coming out when it did...especially considering the cloak of secrecy surrounding the search. It was almost as if it was intended to quell the talk.

Now, read all of these ramblings with this caveat:
I was told from the beginning that controlling the flow of info was very important to Gruden.

I'm certain that whatever deal may be has been in the works for months. By months I mean more than two.

Sorry for the long answer. My opinion is that if the rift between Hart and the Boosters was real....Hart would have been given his walking papers months ago. Any reasonable person in Hart's position would realize that if dealings were to be done with Gruden, that an AD with a sitting coach wouldn't be able to do that.

Once again, I apologize for thinking out loud.

either this stuff with hart is a smokescreen to make him look good or something is up. i hope he gets fired, that would be right up there with hiring gruden. i hate hart, no connection to ut, but connected to bama. who is the knucklehead who made that hire.

Larry, Mor, and Curly seem to have only one source and that is Barney. Therefore, if they have any bullets they would have had to come from Barney. That whole group if soothsayers seem to follow the lead of Red Wolf and his wolf pack anyway. No external information in what they say.

Has the media been right or consistent in this search?
Simple question. Why was Woodberry the only one to get a scoop?

Yeah cause you know the big boys were sitting around saying... "Hmm whom to talk to: ESPN, NFL Network, ABC, CBS, FOX Sports...

Nah I think we need to go bigger, let's holla at our boy Woodberry"

According to who, Woodberry?
Just saying why is Woodberrys scoop being treated as "Gospel"?

Maybe because ESPN and several outlets ran with the story with no denial from anyone. Hubbs reported that JG was contacted and preliminary talks. Reported someone in AD quoted as JG saying it wasn't the right move for him or his family.

You don't make the amount of money he has by being a fool.

No, and when I see Dave Hart squaring off against Haslam and Lamonte, it has all of the trappings of some of those contests between the Christians and the lions in the old Roman Coliseum.

Hart is throwing rocks;while those guys drop atomic bombs.

I can tell you this Red wolf and wolf pack if they are trying to scuttle tarzan from getting a sticky banana he better be ready to be run out of the jungle as well.

I would love to see Gruden's MNF contract. It is highly possible that he can leave for a coaching job, BUT that he cannot accept such a job during a given season. In other words, he has to finish this season at MNF beofre he can accept any coaching job.

His Bucs payments could be an issue too.

If that is the case, it would explain a lot.

If the harsh statement reported was erroneous then I would think LaMonte and/or Gruden would have replied quickly!
LaMonte has been an agent for years. Why no "official" statement to major media.....
I'm done trying to belabor a point that the truth is right in front of us.

Lex has always been a contender, but I think he just took the lead for my favorite poster. OldVol a close 2nd with Coasty, San Diego, and Slice rounding out the top 5.
