Maybe because ESPN and several outlets ran with the story with no denial from anyone. Hubbs reported that JG was contacted and preliminary talks. Reported someone in AD quoted as JG saying it wasn't the right move for him or his family.

JG quoted as saying not the right move for his family "at this time." Hmmm..

I would love to see Gruden's MNF contract. It is highly possible that he can leave for a coaching job, BUT that he cannot accept such a job during a given season. In other words, he has to finish this season at MNF beofre he can accept any coaching job.

His Bucs payments could be an issue too.

If that is the case, it would explain a lot.

The Bucs board knocked out the Bucs payment as an issue late last week.

Apparently it was up a while ago but Good Guy Gruden allowed the payment to be deferred.

Goes both ways...People believe whatever media fits their hope and belief.
Official statement? When it broke, that news was everywhere. No reason for an official statement confirming it. I think if it was wrong then a denial was necessary though considering the statement made.

If the harsh statement reported was erroneous then I would think LaMonte and/or Gruden would have replied quickly!

If they wanted this statement to quell the excitement and get the story dropped to keep it quiet they wouldn't retract the statement.

Still seems weird to me that Gruden who presumably has respect for UT would let that be his statement if he wasn't trying to keep it quiet.

I wanted him here as much as the rest of y'all. I have been in this thread for months. I just think there is too much evidence and I'm tired of grasping at straws. I have turned every little bit of info that has come out into a positive that he was coming. I can't do it any longer. I truly hope y'all are right, but I'm no longer a believer.
