haha that was a great moment in Breaking Bad. Thought Hank was gonna enter anyway

VILLAGERS are smokin some good stuff!!! Forums and threads are for.people to speculate. What are they gonna do take are right to free speech away! Give me break dont fire the damn coach so fast and then screw up the next hire and blame it on the fans.

Yay yuh.. Long live the gruden thread. If we hire some1, ima need rehab..or theragru

I honestly don't know what to think.
In my opinion the villagers are tell me what they want to believe. Not whats really happening.

Only Red Wolf and Midas know for sure

I'm not sure what are chances really are at this point. I'm convinced nobody on VN knows.

I think there's still a chance we land him ... only because we haven't hired anybody else.

I'd really to like to hear the whole story behind this train wreck. I don't think we'll ever REALLY know but I refuse to leave this thread on the remote chance we may find out. Besides, you guys are freaking awesome. Where else can you go to find this many people passionate about a common goal? Awesome.

I can't wait for the Barney Fife show tomorrow as he will surely enlighten us on the adventures of Red Wolfe to have the Great Pumpkin take over for a couple of weeks so that he and Mufasa can try and get a sticky bananna worked out with Tarzan/Jane.

Ok guys.... Here is the way I see it.... All the cloak and dagger BS is really making my head hurt (just took 4 more ibuprofen). It is really hard to figure out who or what to believe in this mess!

I can say that the vast majority of the sport's media members in K-town have no idea what the heck is going on save for the tidbits of information they are being spoon fed by the Athletic Department. And the source(s) that almost each one of them quotes is "a person close to the situation within the Athletic Department who does not have the authority to speak for the Athletic Department who has requested to remain anonymous".

Really the only Knoxville sports media person who quoted an actual source was Woodbery when he quoted LaMonte. And Woodbery has confirmed that he actually spoke to LaMonte. Now why LaMonte choose to contact Woodbery of all people is a mystery in and of itself.

On the other hand, we have a very reputable writer in Chatt who releases an article about the Gruden deal (thank you Hargis) which was a front page story relying upon two sources that the editor of the paper checked out. Hargis then proceeded to back up his story on a number of radio programs throughout Tennessee. Knoxville's sport's media (other than TB and some of his crew) chose not to investigate the story rather they ridiculed Hargis and attacked his credibilty. Frankly, I tend to believe Hargis' account more than the garbage that Hubbs, Deardork, Hyams, Pennington, and Rucker (you can insert the remainder of 990 sports people here) have been spewing from their "sources" (see above).

The whole deal is laughable and is really becoming a PR nightmare of avalanche proportions. If Gruden does not land at UT as the next HC of the Vols then I would say that it is because of one of two reasons!

Either Hart blew the deal for which he must answer or when push came to shove Gruden did not want to return to college football. If it was Hart, then hopefully he will suffer the consequences. If it was Gruden, then he is kind of an arsss for getting the VolNation's hopes up: Who knows.

But as much as I hate to admit it, the truth may be somewhere in the middle. We may never know the truth of what has actually taken place. This being said, if Gruden is not hired then unfortunately none of the other candidates that have been mentioned are noteworthy - Fedora, Strong, Gundy, Fisher - nope sorry - no chill bumps - maybe some cringes though. It is unfortunate that Tennessee may not make the splash-home-run hire that we were sooo hoping for.

I am still hoping that UT gets it right! Gruden Gruden Gruden!!!!!

Can't stay on this site very long.

1. Deal is not over. Chances are dwindling. Too much info was being leaked. Disinfo was issued to find "moles" and plug holes.

2. Gundy is big player. Talks broke down a few weeks ago, but back in play.

3. I caution some posters, be careful what you say and how much info you leak. This board is now being monitored keenly (and has been for a few weeks now) by 3-4 different camps. Deal was almost dead due to info leaking.

I am jeopardizing a lot myself by passing along this info. You may already know it, you may not.

Good luck. I hope you get what you want, but be careful how you go about it.

No. You don't get it. I'm not talking all super-secret cia crap. Nobody is gonna get whacked, or arrested or anything, but there are jobs on the line from leaks. Not bigtime jobs, but normal white collar wage-earners that are fans the same as the rest of us.

The parties invloved... These people do not want or need their business known. I am just like everyone else, I want to know and I want to know now. But listen, things were getting good with JG. But when exact details (and I mean EXACT details) of things started getting out to general public... and the parties involved got wind of this from a friend of a friend, or a kid's friend, etc. Sh*t literally hit the fan. Some of the trails led back to "oh i read it on VN."

So. Bogus stories were leaked. These stories were designed to be leaked through different channels. These were typically minor news items related to JG, but the details in each one were changed just enough to know where it came from. The ones that got out, they could trace down through the chain and see where the hole or mole was. Many of these holes have now been plugged. This is a typical way to find a corporate leak. There are still a few that they can't track down. Don't know if they will ever find them (you know who you are ;) )

I'm telling you, all parties involved in the JG deal (as well as some other coaches camps) know about VN. A lot of sensitive information came through here. A LOT. No joke. I'm not saying someone is monitoring this site for IP addresses or anything. They just monitor to know what news is leaking and where to go to fix it.

How sensitive could that info be? It was all bs

I don't know why I thought of this, but these quotes from President Bush seem appropriate to this thread:

"I know what I believe. I will continue to articulate what I believe and what I believe -- I believe what I believe is right."

"There's an old saying in Tennessee -- I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee -- that says, fool me once, shame on --shame on you. Fool me -- you can't get fooled again."

If "Jon Gruden accepts the heading coaching job at Tennessee" scrolled across the ticker of ESPN...

A.) How would you react?

B.) How does the rest of the country react?

I'l hang up and listen
