Understand this about the national sportswriters. They don't follow our program. Their "sources" = UT AD. They know less about the inner workings of this search than you or I do, but they have a verified Twitter account or a media outlet attached to their name, so people read their stuff and give it credence.

In my opinion, shaped by what I was told by one of my people, all chatter about any name aside from Gruden is coming from the UT AD, one way or another. All of it. The national media names are less connected to this program by several orders of magnitude compared to people like Brice and Hargis. They do NOT dig or investigate. They print what their people tell them, and their people are telling them garbage, for now.

What do you make of the Mullen team meeting? I think he’s going to Florida.

Well stated. I think I read that the CBS/Gruden stuff this morning was cited from an “NFL Insider” not someone from the AD camp.

Okay, back up from the ledge folks. IF UF was to hire Mullen, but all means, go for it. Accept what mediocrity comes with such a hire. Sportswriters will talk about it, sure. But...

Such a hire will be overshadowed and shoved to Page 37 by Tennessee announcing a Gruden hire not long afterwards. Who do you think the sportswriters want to talk about more? Mullen who's as exciting as watching grass grow? Or Gruden, a man they all know, respect and would bring excitement to the CFB realm.

We should all be so lucky a scenario like that plays out.

Mullen will not be in Knoxville. He has a very good agent who knows that if he can get it out that UT is linked to Mullen, hopefully other programs would be interested if we are. That's pretty much what you're seeing play out!

Could be part of a "deal" made with Sexton to get some slack on CBJ's buyout. That's the way one poster put it.

I fear the Gruden/CBS story is to show Currie tried. The Schiano story is to say it could be worse. The Mullen stuff looks like the unfortunate reality. Lines up with talk last night about Currie going last night to have an early meeting with Mullen today. Flight could very well have been Currie heading home from the meeting, which caused the MSU meetings to be delayed. Currie hasn't been flying directly to any cities where the coach coaches so far. So it being 2 hours from Starkville wouldn't be unusual. If any of that is true, maybe we're lucky and Mullen said no.

That Miss. State player tweet has me a bit worried.

That's my fear for sure. Highly doubtful it's Schiano, Peterson, Campbell or any of those other guys. It's either Gruden, which I'm becoming less confident by as the hours go on, or it's Mullen.

If it's Mullen I might just have to get a VOLsectemy and then see if I can reverse it when we get serious and hire a coach that will turn this program around.

Question—People keep saying if it’s announced today then it’s not Gruden.

Do they not understand that just because it’s announced today doesn’t mean they have to have the press conference today.

Hell most of us just want the official release to say Gruden has been hired. We’re ok waiting several days for a press conference.
