I believe you're over thinking things. Currie wants to hire the guy that will give us the most wins and prolong his role as UT's AD. That and the financial side, is all he's worried about.

I'm just loosely speculating. There is no reason for Schiano to even be in the conversation. Currie wouldn't hire him if he wanted to keep his job. If Currie has any control over the leaks, then Schiano is a terrible distraction to make the real hire even more impressive. His name is out there for a reason.
