I grew up watching Fulmer as a child of the 90s, I was in the UT Bookstore as a student the day it was leaked he'd be fired, everyone in there was struck dumb, we couldn't believe it. Then, as a student, I was there through Lane and the Dooley debacle. As an adult, I've had the displeasure, pleasure, then displeasure again of watching the Butch years. Finally, today listening to Phil over the radio, I felt like it was the late 90s, early 00s again. Ladies and gentlemen, we finally have a Vol leading this athletic department and it feels amazing!

Wow. I thought Bev did as well as she could. I felt sorry for her. She doesn’t strike me as someone terribly interested in sports and she’s just now figuring out how important it is to so many. She looks sooo tired.

The feels I got when Phil started talking. Like old times. He’s back and in his rightful position.

If only she had been here to see this day...

My mom's favorite Christmas gift I have given her is a basketball signed by the last National Championship team. She made sure players sat down and signed items for their fans. A class act and wonderful ambassador for the university. She will always be missed.

I’m going to tell you all a story about Phil Fulmer. Many of you know that I lost my teenage son a few months ago. He was born in ‘98 and was a surviving twin. That fall my husband and I were grieving the loss of one son and our other son was in the NICU hanging onto life by a tenuous thread. We had been through so many crises as any parent of a child in the NICU can tell you is just the way it is. We were grieving, scared and exhausted. We happened to catch the end of our football game vs Arkansas I believe - the one where their quarterback inexplicably fumbled and we came back to win? My husband had just said, “Well, that’s the ballgame.” I replied, “You never know what can happen!” He said, “All he has to do is take a knee.” Then the fumble happened and I KNEW that ANYTHING truly can happen and my son DID have a chance to make it! All things are possible! I knew from my faith, of course, that God could heal our son but for some reason seeing the end of that game gave me more hope.

I wrote a letter to Coach Fulmer after that thanking the team for not giving up and for showing that anything is possible. I received a very nice letter back from him telling me he read the letter to the team. He is a kind man with great character and compassion. I still have that letter.

It’s easy to say “It’s just football,” but as the poster whose son has depression commented and as our situation proves - sometimes it means MUCH more than just a game.

Just wanted to share that with my Volnation family.

God bless you and your family. Thanks for sharing your story.

C'mon folks ... send them your words of congratulations and thank you's.
They heard us.

This guy was my thesis advisor in college. We still keep up. Super nice dude who had set himself up nicely for a future top shelf job at the university.

“Our football program has the history, facilities, the tradition, and the resources to play with anyone, anytime and that’s what were gonna do again.” - Phillip Fulmer

Thank god. You can knock Fulmer for a lot of things, but he instilled a mentality that we haven't had since.

I knew UT was seriously broken the day we paid to cancel a game against ****ing UNC just to make it to a bowl game.

Davenport on the Mike Leach deal: “I’m not going to talk about any coaches at any other schools, or any other places.

That’s a direct quote... you don’t say that unless there is a coach outside of a “school”that is being considered. It’s not a natural response.

It is amazing to think if word didn't get out about Schiano in time, we would all be in a world of hurt right now.

Thank goodness someone leaked it and the rest is VN history.

Yes. I was lucky enough to associate with her a bit on a personal level several times and she was such a fantastic person.

It’s great, to be, a Tennessee Vol!!! I said, it’s great, to be, a Tennessee Vol!!!

Yes! We sure did it, didn’t we!?!? This is one of the greatest moments in the University of Tennessee’s History!

We WON the war!!!

We all deserve a big pat on the back because if it wasn’t for our commitment to this great University, I don’t think this would have ever happened! This was the fans doing! This was VolNations accomplishment and everyone deserves to be accredited; Coming from me personally, I would just like to say thank you to everyone on VolNation for rallying the troops and fighting for what we believe in!

With that said, I have enjoyed my time here and have enjoyed the discussions we’ve had. I hope I was able to shed some light on some things and I hope I was able to help aid in the cause. From this moment forward, I will not be commenting on the coaching search and I will be giving this account back to its owner. I have the utmost respect for Phillip Fulmer and hope everyone will get behind him and believe in him to do the best job possible. Phillip Fulmer is the greatest man I have ever known and he loves the University more than anyone, and I know, with all my heart, there’s truly no one better for the job.

Thank you all for letting me be a part of this!

I won’t say we won the war until I see who we hire.

Just wanted to share that with my Volnation family.

Almost 3 years ago my father was dying with cancer. I called Antone, explained the situation, and CPF called 3 times to speak to him. CJM called once also. CPF sent a very heartfelt email upon hearing of his passing.

I got the feeling that she sat down and said "Phil I don't know sports or understand them, you do Phil, can you fix this?"

and Phil said "yes Ma'am I thought you'd never ask!"

Okay, so...

If I was to do a Grude News update either this evening or tomorrow, which format would be preferred?

A. The traditional new blurbs I started with?

B. "Today in pictures"?

You decide, VN.

BOTH! You know we deserve it! :p

If you do pics, you have to reuse the one with the girl going off into the hamburger phone. That one made me snort laugh
