No need. I don't take it that serious. :) people here know me man. I'm no troll. Just wanted Gruden.

Confusion was some didn't seem to recognize I was speaking about two different concepts. One angle was my original Gruden contacts if you will, and those went negative Thursday. I spoke about that plainly.

Then, sunday night i think when basically nobody was hearing anything about grudem, someone totally separate sent me a text sourced from AD side relaying some info they had about a possible new HC and presser. Hope you can see the difference. I stated not to take it too seriously as a disclaimer, but it was noteworthy nonetheless as part of the puzzle.

Honestly, I just want to know what went down. I'm saying I don't know. Make sense?

Hang in there Liper, your original sources I believe we're right. I know BS when I step in it and the AD has been spreading it by the truckload .

Was a hell of a battle this afternoon fellow Grudes. Glad it's over for now. My blood pressure was getting pretty high..lol

Have been for years. :) :hi:

Oh, we have won a national championship more recently than those stupid dawgs

My wife is from Atlanta (she could care less about football) but her family is huge Tech fans. I was born in Knoxville, blood runs orange, always has, always will. However, the thought of hiring Strong sickens me.

What it really sounds like is happening is that the influx of hires from Arkansas and Auburn made a gang of over-zealous reporters look to break the news on Tennessee's next hire, since obviously we're on the clock. In doing so, they couldn't help but "scope us out" - and hear the same, cliched, misinformed garbage we (as Vols fans) have been subjected to for the last two weeks from Hyams, Hubbs, Rucker, and the like.

In doing this, they probably, falsely, believed these were credible reports, and since Strong couldn't directly be denied at that moment (unlike other candidates) and he'd had some questionable interviews regarding his allegiance to Louisville - a snowball effect happened, one bull**** story feeding off the next until all of a sudden we have 50 new reports out in the span of 4 hours, all tracing back to vague, unconfirmed comments and speculation from the Knoxville media.

It doesn't hurt that this fits into the narrative a lot have painted earlier about a big scare before our hire was made.

Fletch lives!! You missed your calling (I guess)

CM- never stated it was the ideal hire, and yes he is a gamble at that kind of money, I agree. He does have potential and room to grow, he also has some drawbacks as well, like I stated limited HC experience. Just wanted to bring some viable discussion to the thread, and keep an open mind about our options, if JG doesn't come to fruition. Problem is there aren't a ton of candidates out there that wouldn't cause some hesitation. I appreciate your post and respect your stance and opinion. Way more than the "Sandusky" guy. At least you articulated a rational thought supported with a logical argument.

Macgruder! My thinking buddy. You think there's any coincidence to Hart and Gruden both being in New York tonight? And do you think anything could "come from it?"

I'm still sticking strong with Boro,OV and the rest of the OG's...

call me ignorant or whatever, but they called this crap weeks ago
about the coaches names...hope this what they've been talking about,
that and every other coaches name in America...

It's crazy out there so you're better off staying in here with us.

I'm so stressed by this search that I'm literally on the verge of tears. Not being able to smoke at work doesn't really help, but I've been obsessed with this search since before Dooley was fired. I've been in the JG threads since JGI, although I don't consider myself an OG because I have no "inside" info to provide. All I know is that this seems to be the only thread on the entire site where anyone has any sanity. Everywhere else, everyone is at everyone's throats. We get the occasional influx of those that want to bash, but for the most part it's peaceful here. I appreciate that.

Like the rest of you I am a bit confused and grasping, but this much i DO KNOW. Stephen Hargis is a quality old school reporter, as is the Times Free Press a quality newpaper. Unlike radio, TV, and some of the tabloid like rags in in Knoxville. The TFP is pretty old school about verifying sources. more so when they make a Sports story their front page headline.... They stuck by the story even after the fact. So if their article is accurate then Gruden WAS the man up until it broke early in media.

Before that we had a silent Athletic Department. Since then we have had a constant rumor mill athletic department going off in all directions....and this is the otherthing I am sure on, we are in the middle of a full press dissinformation campaign, via info vommit....put out so much info no one knows what is real.

All the while, Gruden has not directly denied it, and the people who seemed to have BEST inside info esp around Gruden's side....have gone dead silent....not denying just silent.

I think we will not know WHO our coach is until the 23rd or later......just sayin.

Me too, got my fingers crossed.

Would it be impossible to believe that we were waiting so king chucky could be announced after all of the other schools have announced. Nov. 30 may have been original date , but auburn firing coach messed up time line. Or fulmers intro to the hof. Me thinks chucky and hart are sinister and planning on ruling sec.
