I know this is the "Gruden or bust thread", and not trying to go against CJG, however, I think we should keep an open mind either way, and at least entertain the idea he may not come. That being said I know Strong is the new flavor of the day, and have heard arguments both way regarding him. Sure he has limited HC experience but the guy has been around the game along time and unlike our last HC, Strong has a long and successful background as a coordinator which is a plus. Also, been over in the recruiting forums lately and there is a buzz with alot of high profile recruits that have stated they would entertain TN if Strong were to come, so the guy has a good shot at pulling in a solid recruiting class right out of the gate. Could be a solid option if JG falls through. Just think we should at least be open about the idea. FWIW.
Now flame away, as I have come to see that as the trend around here.
GBO
I am sure we can get this information... I am just not sure when.... I don't believe most of what I read about it.
I don't believe Gruden did not want to be here, I don't believe it was about power, and I don't believe it was about money.
That leaves me to believe as Tony B (of all people said) that Gruden was never Harts choice. That being the case he stalled until he found a way to piss him off.
I personally think (can't prove) it was Hart
No need. I don't take it that serious. people here know me man. I'm no troll. Just wanted Gruden.
Confusion was some didn't seem to recognize I was speaking about two different concepts. One angle was my original Gruden contacts if you will, and those went negative Thursday. I spoke about that plainly.
Then, sunday night i think when basically nobody was hearing anything about grudem, someone totally separate sent me a text sourced from AD side relaying some info they had about a possible new HC and presser. Hope you can see the difference. I stated not to take it too seriously as a disclaimer, but it was noteworthy nonetheless as part of the puzzle.
Honestly, I just want to know what went down. I'm saying I don't know. Make sense?

Rumors out the rear end: Here are the latest rumors.
1. Rumor out of Stillwater is that Gundy hasn't given Tennessee an answer.
2. Rumors out of Louisville is that Strong is leaving for Tennessee
3. Rumors out of Louisville that says Strong is staying
4. Rumors of part of Strong's potential staff at Tennessee visiting with each other.
That's just a few of them.
Here's a theory....
What if it was set up to all fall apart....and then since both Gruden and Hart planned on be NYC....it goes something like this:
"I was set and determined on going back to the NFL. Tennessee had approached me, but I just didn't think that the college game was for me. But as I sat and watched Coach Fulmer's induction to the Hall of Fame, and saw the tradition and glory that is Tennessee football, and I thought about the rivalries, the stadium, the orange, the fans, Rocky Top, the start of my coaching days, my wife cheering on the sidelines, my mentor barking out plays, the start of everything I am being there, I couldn't help but realize I could be part of the solution to bring that back again, and introduce my kids to the Tennessee that their dad knew. So Dave and I rediscussed the job, and I told him that I couldn't sleep peacefully tonight, unless I knew that I was the next Head Coach of the University of Tennessee."
Anybody see that?
