Well guys I'm absolutely sick with this hire. This really proves to me that the athletic dept is not concerned with becoming a winning program. Were content to becoming a Vanderbilt. Butch Jones may be an great guy/personality much like Dooley. But this hire along with Dooley is not right for Tennessee and has set the program back a long time.

Respectfully, I still have not heard an answer to my original question. Are there any OG's who have reached out to their sources and discovered how this whole deal came about?

I just got news from a source(my wife), that this issue is dead, this thread is dead, and if I don't get "my lame ass" off that damned volnation website, I'll soon be dead......SOON!

I'm trying to find some positives in this hire and this is the best I've come up with so far:

1. BJ provides continuity: Like Dooley, he has never defeated a team that ended the season in the Top 25

2. He actually beat Vandy

3. He will be right at home playing home games in front of crowds of 35,000.

Just read a post over on Espn. They said the sec coaches are a nuclear arms race and UT just brought an air-soft gun!

Im devistated. Well guess i will have an excuse to get drunk as f$#k tonight other than its Friday!

Why the **** was Cheek involved in this process anyway. Only input he should have had was "Yes, Mr. Hart, Mr. Haslam, Mr. Whoever, we will make that happen"

Don't take your grudeanger out on Butch Jones. It isn't fair to him. Blame Cheek and Hart for the search fiasco, but give our new coach a chance. That is all he would ask and it is fair for him to ask it. Show him we are a fair fanbase and if he builds the program over time he will win our support and respect.

Thank you to all those who posted information in here. From those who actually heard things from reliable sources to those who were listening to the genie in the bottle. I really admire those who's information did not pan out showing up and standing by what they heard. They will take an undeserved beating, yet here they are.

I am a UT grad and will support the new coach. Am I disappointed it wasn't a homerun hire, yes. But the gentlemen that give their all for the Volunteers will receive my support until they are no longer a Volunteer.

So are there any other threads in here that are safe? I enjoyed my stay in here and I will be looking for a new thread home. :)

Don't lose your faith Grudenites. I have heard from reliable sources that this is all still part of Hart's plan to announce the Gruden hire. Butch Jones is being paid a nice sum of cash by UT to take the job for a few weeks and then step down for undisclosed reasons. At this point, MNF will be over and Gruden will come to the rescue and be announced as our next head coach. Cinci will then rehire Jones after Hart sends them a nice donation. This was done bc Hart knew the fan base was getting restless so he needed a stopgap for a few weeks...that stopgap is Jones. In the meantime, Vic Grider is on the recruiting trail and letting out recruits know what is really up. Hart is a genius and it will be epic the way this will all play out!

I wanted gruden, but don't understand how people blame hart or anyone else for gruden saying no. It's like the guy in hs who refuses to believe his girlfriend dumped him. Jon gruden himself said no on mike and mike, his agent even sad we lived in a fantasy land, yet some thought that was cia coverup thst meant he was coming. From the man's own mouth, yet you choose to believe some random message board poster and take their word over gruden? Hart can't force somebody to take a job they DID NOT want. I'm upset, but accept it gruden did't want to be here.

He has a winning record has 4 conference titles and 5 bowl appearances.....that's a hell of a lot better than Dooley

we want have to him and hart have already sealed there fate when there is about half the capacity of people in the stadium next year and probably less the year after that then they will understand or they will not be there anymore.
