Because it's easier to set up a defense to stop an offense than it is to find some magic play to win, unless you don't trust the situation on the floor.

You have two timeouts. If you struggle to get the ball in, call another. I’m sorry you will just never be able to convince me that Malachi Smith in ISO after lazily jogging the ball up the court is a better design than calling a timeout and specifically designing up some action to get your guy a clear and open shot.

Not to mention the flow of the game and the fact Chattanooga had really struggled to score the ball the last 10 minutes of the half. Help your guys out and draw something up.
