Will Mark Richt be at UGA next season?

Wrong again. Searles was not the problem. I was hoping that we could have held on to him. Texas gave him 100K extrs per year and there's no way UGA could match it right now.

There was a question mark at the end of the statement which means I was asking.

Let me ask you guys something,

Do you think Richt got stupid overnight? What's the mans record.

Just stay tuned to what happens.

Don't take it so personally.

It has nothing to do with stupidity. The fact is that Richt AND his coaching staff have not been developing their talent as they should be. I hate to call it the Phillip Fulmer-syndrome, but there definitely are similarities.

I honestly believe that UGA will only win 7 games next year.

Auburn should win 6 or 7.

One of those records would result in a new HC and it isnt Auburn.

5-4 headed into November. If the team is disheartened enough knowing they cannot win the SEC, they may fold up. One big injury (to someone other than Sturdivant) and UGA may end up the season even worse than the 7 wins I predicted.

If they fire Richt, who would they go after? I think despite his recent bad losses and the fact that in recruiting he has ended up with a group of midgets at cb, Richt is a great man and a great recruiter.

I am hopeful that Dooley will have the luxury of a bad UGA that Fulmer had as Donnan's era was ending. Richt's ascendancy robbed Fulmer of some of the players from UGA that he had built his whole program on.

FL could end up the red headed step child this year and ensure Richt's job. Few circumstances would allow an SECE coach to beat FL and still get canned. Not saying it would happen but for me it's the most pivotal game for him.

I hope this goes better than the Anthony Grant prediction.

Justin can you point to the "Anthony Grant prediction"?

Are you talking about when I said that Anthony Grant had done the worst job in the SEC coaching wise in November?

His subsequent success proves that I was entirely correct when I said he was stinking out loud as he lost to teams like Iowa.

His failure at the start of the year is why his team missed the tournament, and that was a team that was more talented that ended up in the field of 64.

I'd also add that whatever year he does get canned would likely include a humiliating loss by us. UGA fans see us as inferior regardless of actual record.

I expect UGA to female dog slap Auburn. They might beat us, too, and they may win in Knoxville.

This. They really believe this too. They really believe they are a football powerhouse or were a football powerhouse.

All fanbases have their fair share of delusional fans. I get into it with our portion of delusional fans all the time.

UGA is not and has not been a powerhouse but I will put up our record against anyother SEC team for the last decade. Sure we did not win the MNC but we came pretty close 3 times.

Three different seasons we were one win away from being considered a bigtime program. Had those 3 games gone our way we would be considered one of the best programs of the previous decade. But like they say, it is what it is. I know what our program is and I'm comfortable with it.

Insider it is a question to me whether you recognize how close you came and did not get there with truly excellent talent.

Outside of CA, Texas, FL and Louisiana, Georgia stands with Alabama as one of the most talent rich states in the country.

Richt has not had to contend with a studly Georgia Tech taking his recruits.

When Miami was at it's peak, FSU and Florida were behind.

Alabama and Auburn have both been recruiting at a pretty high level for the last few years.

Georgia did not capitalize on the Garner switch which made Fulmer decline and Georgia ascend. You guys had chances and Florida was mostly your undoing in terms of building a national perception of a team that is truly elite.

For our sake I am hopeful that run is over and Georgia will slide back to 3rd in the SEC East, a good but not great program.

I hear your arguments but I have to somewhat disagree with some of them.

Our instate talent is really good but we have to compete with just about everybody in the SEC for our top guys. You also have to remember that UGA does not oversign which means that some of our best guys will leave the state.

I will be the first to admit that the last 2 years have been on Richt, they have been unacceptable. Like I have said, all great coaches go through some tough adversity. We'll find out very soon just how great Richt can be.

Its good that you know what your program is and you should be comfortable with it. I wish that most ga fans here in west ga( Villa Rica, Douglasville, Carrollton, etc.) shared your resolve and knowledge about your program. But as one poster said ,"it would take them losing to us to can Richt, as they believe they are inferior to us", in not the same exact words, that is also what I have encountered. Only they believe that on an all time level. As far as at the moment, they are correct. UT is 3rd or 4th at best in their division.

I understand that every fan base has their share of delusional fans and UT is no different. I also understand that a die hard fan of any school is going to think his or hers program is the greatest. It is just in my experiences that most ga fans think of UT being lower than USC and even UK. They even think that they have the classiest program and school because coach Richt is good Christian man. I don't know what it is and I'm sure there are cool ga fans out there like yourself. I too am very comfortable with our program even though it has been a less than great decade. Maybe they think they are a powerhouse because of the in state talent and they feel that should be better than their all time achievements suggest. I don't know what it is.

Has NFL-caliber talent underperformed at UGA? | UGA: The Junkyard Blawg

It is awful to think that TN has squandered even more talent than UGA in the last decade. The 2001 loss to LSU is still the most unacceptable loss in my lifetime for the program.
