I have never understood why he has received so much grief from Vol fans. A self made true homegrown Vol that plays his ass off with hustle regardless of his productivity. That's all I needed to make him my favorite early in his career.

The "specialist" talk was justified because that is what he specializes in. The problem was he wasn't a consistent specialist. He will still have a few more horrible shooting nights because that's what happens to specialists who can't make up for bad shooting nights by being successful driving to the basket for points. I see yours and others points; all I'm saying is people have been unrealistic and impatient in his talent progression. This is true, but he shouldn't have been kept being called a specialist during that time. That is my main point, because he wasn't.
I could not agree with you more. From Tennessee, wanted to be a Vol. So instead of getting a scholly from a D2 school he walks on and earns one at UT. He loves UT and I am so proud of him and how he is growing as a player. Coach Martin has given him a great chance and he is making the most if it. :salute:
Playing 30+ minutes keeps Skylar in the flow and helps his shooting touch.
When he played sparingly he couldn't get in a rhythm shot-wise.
All we need to know is what his teammates think of him, which they believe in him and want him to touch the ball as much as possible. The coaches believe in him as they run plays that get him open for his shot. They also trust him to guard the other team's SG and PG. So whether VN posters think he is good or not really doesn't matter.
From those of us at the game tonight, McBee was the clutch scorer, Cam Tatum was the clutch overall player (especially key rebounds and loose balls), and Trae Golden is the one guy they cannot lose now that he knows how to play PG. Also love to hear the court announcer say "McThree!!!"
