Official Nashville Predators Thread

Again...they add 2 players. One plays for 12 minutes and the other doesn't play. The one that did play, the first time he hits the ice was game time since due to a delayed flight from one coast to the other. They lose and it's because of chemistry? Isn't that jumping the gun just a little too quick?

Good Lord, man, show me where I said they lost due to team chemistry. And they were not on another coast anyway, they were in Nashville. Sounds like you need to shore up some facts and reread some posts.

The past has shown that late season pickups haven't panned out. Is that wrong or right?
I'm concerned that a hot team may again go cold at the wrong time, due to the team's history of doing such after aquisitions. That's not jumping the gun on anything.

You're coming off as "freaking" out over losing 1 game. That one game has nothing to do with the adding or subtracting players.

You're coming off as a drama queen with an inability to reason or comprehend the topic and are arguing based off of that inability.

OK...you're right and I'm wrong. Based on the past, the acquisitions will ruin the chemistry and Preds will go downhill and the only reason attributed will be that.

Preds fans freaking out over a 1 goal loss to Carolina is awesome.

Imagine that in say...2001. I love it.

Not even close. Just making a point about preds and their history with late season aquisitions that were to propel the team to a run, but didn't or did the opposite.

Like I have said several times, we will see if they pan out. I hope they do. I'm glad to see others are so confident they will.

fwiw, Smithson was liked in the locker room. There is something to be said about losing him if you are his teammate.

Predators' late-season acquisitions over time.

1998-99 - Dan Keczmer
1999-00 - Pavel Skrbek; Cale Hulse
2000-01 - none
2001-02 - Jere Karalahti
2002-03 - Wade Flaherty; Todd Warriner
2003-04 - Brad Bombardir; Sergei Zholtok; Shane Hnidy
2005-06 - Brendan Witt
2006-07 - Peter Forsberg
2007-08 - Brandon Bochenski; Jan Hlavac
2008-09 - none
2009-10 - Denis Grebeshkov; Dustin Boyd
2010-11 - Mike Fisher
2011-12 - Hal Gill (so far)

bump.

Arguably, Fisher is the only one that has really panned out and had a positive effect. That's 1 of 16.

Hlavac had like 13 points in 18 games. Forsberg had like 15 in 18.

I don't think we won more games with them, but I could be wrong. I've been to every big game down the stretch and every playoff game at home since they came to town. I just know I left there with a loss too many times, when we had supposedly prepped ourself for a run.

That's fair, but the argument could also be made that, outside of Fish and Forsberg, these are the highest quality deadline acquisitions the Preds have made by a wide margin.

Correct. The others were basically roll players. Fisher and Forseburg were the only real "major" players and Forseburg was on his last legs. These acquisitions are solid pickups. History doesn't always repeat itself. Ask Manning and Shuler.

I think AK46 is a very solid addition. Big winger with a deadly shot is exactly what we needed. Going to a place like Nashville, where there is really no pressure, is going to be good for him. Put him on a line with Leggy and Wilson/Smith and I think he is close to a point per game kinda guy once they gel. Hopefully that happens in the homestretch so we can get some home ice.

Probably Borque, maybe Halischuk, which sucks because he is very good when given the opportunity to play

I would rather a Klein or someone similar have to sit. Borque has been active. Probably trying not to lose his spot.
I just hope its not someone like Craig Smith that loses time.

Even though Borque has played with great pace and brought a spark, he has to be low man on the totem pole. Yip won't be seen much more either I suspect. On D Hillen is the scratch when everyone is healthy and Ellis is pretty much done with the big club for the year. It will be interesting to see how the lines settle out. I guess i'd go. Can't break up that 1st or 3rd line. The other two will need to be tweaked.

Forgot about Yip, hes your second guy. No reason to sit Klein, he is having a good year and is a decent second pairing defenseman, Hillen is the odd man out there. I like Bourque a lot, and I think he can contribute, but he just isn't as good as Hali, Spals, Toots or Honey Badger

Yeah thats right, **** you guys, I am using nicknames

Third line has been productive, but I think you can bust it up and do something like this

1st : Erat - Fish - Tits
2nd: AK46 - Leggy - Wilson
3rd: Smith - Goose - Horny
4th: Toots - Spals - Hali

First two lines can flat out score, the third one has a great two way forward and very good scoring potential and the fourth line is pesky as hell, but can still score. Also, looking at that, we have some sick centers from a defensive standpoint

Who is HB?

I get no Preds info except I go to a game or catch it on TV with my kids and both are usually at the last second. Sounds like I'm wrong on Klein. He's probably just stuck in my head because of some bad turnovers in a game or two.
