Official Nashville Predators Thread

I wonder how this series would have played out with the Preds having Ryan Johansen, Kevin Fiala, and Colin Wilson all healthy?

Wow, last game the Pens weren't really that good, they just got this far in the playoffs because of phantom penalties, and the NHL wasnt going to let Nashville win. Tonight its injuries.

Maybe the Pens are a good hockey team.

And folks it's a long series. Y'all win your home games and anything can happen.

I'm happy, but not naive. You don't win the series in game 2. And you can't lose it either.

I really won't be surprised if it comes back to Pittsburgh 2-2.

Wasn't there a stat about a 2-0 start being pretty definitive as far as who ends up winning the cup?

Well, it certainly helps, it's harder to, and no, it doesn't happen regularly.

Just saying... you get it 2-2, and these games matter less.

I don't think it's coming back to Pittsburgh at all.

ESPN's alert on my iPhone is screwed up; it sent me an alert that it was a close game with 2:00 left in the 3rd and that Nashville was up 1-0.

At this rate, think we lose in 5. Goalie drama is just bad news at this point.

Oh, agreed.

I've been impressed with NAS, but pit is gritty. We just don't go away typically, and we don't stay down for long.

We've put up some stinkers this post season, so I won't be surprised to see NAS win big one game.

We've made better adjustments, and not allowed bad stretches or periods dictate.

That'll have to continue. NAS has given us problems, and at significant stretches of both games, looked like the better team.

Think it's 90% of the time, but not completely sure.

I think that's the stat for coming back to win a playoff series in general after being down 2-0.

It looks, though, like only 5 finals series saw a team able to come back from being down 2-0 when it comes to win: 1942, 1966, 1971, 2009, and 2011.

So that would mean teams that get up 2-0 in the finals series are 50-5 all time, but if we take out the "best of 5" period it becomes 45-5. So it's about an 89-90% chance that a team starting 2-0 wins the finals series.

(That's going as far as the NHL era in 1930... the late 1920s were apparently best of 3 series and I don't know how the "challenge cup era" worked).
