What's an expected time table to lock up our restricted free agents?

Arvidsson and Watson filed for Arbitration, which happens in early August. Unlike MLB where the arbiter comes up with a number, in the NHL it's either the teams number or the player's. If the arbiter decides on the player's number, the team can decline and the player is instantly a UFA. You can negotiate up until the hearing is complete.

Preds kind of screwed themselves with Johansen now that McDavid's extended, whereas the top salary in the league was 10.5 last week and now it's 12.5. He didn't file for arbitration, so he's probably shooting really high. That one might not get done until Traverse City.

What kind of numbers will they be looking for you think?

I like the 10 year one better

Looks like Arvidsson took more years as opposed to more per year. Interesting move for him; hopefully his 5'9'' frame holds up. I'm not so sure that's a good deal for him.

That's a lot of dough for anyone, let alone RJ

The McJesus contract shifted the pay for 1C by a lot. If not for that it would've probably been $7m per.

All depends on league revenues (more or less the value of the Loonie) as to how good or bad it is.

I think it's a fair deal for all involved, expires as he nears the end of his legitimate #1 years

Mr. Underwood retired. Good for him. I'd go home to Carrie too if I were him. He wasn't going to play for just a couple mil a year.
